Pbc

Went to see my hepatologist monday was referred by gp who said i have pbc as a result of blood tests

Had fibroscan and ultrasound

Hepatologist said she is not sure if i have pbc

She has carried out more blood tests at the hospital

Its just a waiting game now

Good luck, any questions just ask on here, I am probably one of the only ones who was pleased I got diagnosed in a way as I was feeling rather rough and didn’t know why, thought I was going crazy and getting old (I am 45) so was a relief it wasn’t all in my head.

Hi Ballymahon, Did your hepatologist give you any indication what it might be if not pbc? Can I ask what your Alk phos and Bilirubin levels were?

i was diahnosrd 8yr ago pbc but yrs later i was feeling randomly ill with all manor of things aches pains dizzy nausea jt stiffnes a friend of mine suggested i had fibromyalgia hot diagnosed off rheumy and like you i was edcatic when i was given the name that i had actually got something and was not a hypochondriac as some people had jokingley labeled ne as x

She has done some more blood tests she will know more next week it may be pbc and if it is she will prescribe urso

Ballymahon2, my fibroscan was 10.6 which I have to repeat in 18months but I was told only repeat it when you are really well as an infection etc can affect your score. Besides the stuff that's going on with your liver (which is bad enough) - were you well otherewise at the time of the scan?

Yes maire i have no symptoms it was just picked up in a blood test thats the reason the hospital is carrying out more blood tests just to be sure it is pbc

mine was just picked up same had 8yrs on urso for 4just had my first fibroscan this yr scored 6.5 but i believe i am sympton free ax other health issues hard to know good luck with your results

That's a little high but with some meds I'm sure that will come down. Mine is 16.3 at the moment. So don't worry to much bout it
