Hi, mother of 2 young kids. Just gave birth 3 months ago. Doctor thinks its pcb, still have some more testing to do. Been dealing wih an intense itch all over body for almost 2 months now. Been on urso for almost 4 weeks, very lil improvement. Did anyone found relief after a while? Finding it hard with a newborn. Hopefully the itch goes away....does it?

Not sure why they put you on meds without an actual diagnosis. You need to have them run all the tests to be sure. See a Hepatologist (that is a gastroenterologist that specializes in the liver.)

Good Luck!

Are you taking some other prescription or over the counter meds that may cause itching?

I stopped the cholesteramine the itching was worst with it. Im not taking anything else besides antihistamines, zantac and urso. Itching is getting better, my doc did mention the urso helps wih the itch. Now im confuse with everyones answer

Hi, Daisy.

Welcome to this forum hosted by the PBC Foundation. I hope you have seen our website also.

I just wanted to explain that Urso doesn't usually have an impact on symptoms (such as itch) as it is taken in PBC to slow down the progress of the condition. You would probably need a separate medication for the itch.

I don't know where in the world you are, but do get in touch with the Foundation as we can help.

Yours,

Robert.

I would get in touch with the PBC Foundation, as Robert (above) suggests. They will help. As he says, Urso will not stop the itch, it is to help slow down the PBC, if that is what you have.

Personally I'm surprised they have given you the Urso, especially if they have not finished all of the tests. Do talk to the PBC Foundation.

Take care, try not to worry.
