I had this for a while in the beginning, I can't remember when it stopped but it's not been as bad for a few months now, I checked shampoo as my scalp became very sensitive at the time too. I used to put a chilled flannel on my head ( honest) when at home, I have very short fine hair. I took hay fever tablets to help too.

Watch the foods you eat as I found with some it aggravated the itch too.

I have itchy everything! Somedays i want to pull my ears off my head. The inside of my ear are so raw. But yes my scalp too. When im digging i think to myself people around probably think i have cooties. Some ask then i explain my liver and how it causes this. I have heard menthol helps. Perhaps adding some peppermint oil to your shampoo would help.

My scalp is where I suffer with the itch ! Not all the time, I can go weeks with no problem, then it can be a menace for a few weeks ! There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, as to the episodes, but the antihistamine Fexofenadine is my saviour, which I get on prescription.

Good luck 🍀

Me too. At time I’m checking To see if I picked up some unwanted quests. Lol. Then it goes away again. Weird ?

Sandie 1. For years I have this itching body, not just scalp. It comes and goes. Some days it is very bad. I eat gluten free and no fatty foods or alcohol and bath in Epsom Salts water. No perfume soaps or lotions. I worked it out for myself i.e. when the inflammation of the bile ducts are at its peak, then the itching is also really bad. Lately I start feeling very fatigue and also have teething problems. Really not an illness for 'sissies''

This was one of the symptoms I experienced before diagnosis. It drove me mad it was so severe. Thankfully after a few months it disappeared, but sorry I can't remember whether it was after I started on Urso or not.I hope it soon improves for you.

I mentioned it to my Dr, I now have yet another autoimmune condition, seborrheic dermatitis, use special shampoo, to control it. X

I have been meaning to ask this! It's the only crazy itching I have is where ever I have excess hair! 😟 Head, arm pits, private areas...not my legs just yet...even with shaving my arm pits it gets crazy itchy...and not all the time either maybe 1-2xs a day

My partner has had itchy scalp three times this year. She got diagnosed with PBC a week ago. This was after pushing to get more liver tests done because LFT have been off for years. We had never heard of PBC before.

Her consultant was completely unhelpful (about anything) and said itchy scalp has nothing to do with PBC.

She started taking Urso today... she has 2 young kids so we hope the meds will work!

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I had an itchy scalp & the dermatologist diagnosed it as scalp psoriasis which she prescribed antibotic lotion for. Also told me to use Neutrogena T gel shampoo. Your partner should have a dermatologist look at it. It is not pbc related, but the condition could be another auto immune issue.
