Hi Phoenixv

I understand that lactulose is a preferred medication and should soften the stool making it easier to pass. I have previously experienced this! These days I have a diet very high in freshly prepared vegetables but still occassionally have a problem. I then resort to dried natural apricots (dark colour not yellow/orange) and dates. I also boil down some apples no added sugar and take that with bio yoghurt. Any mixture of these or in really bad circumstances all of them during the day seems to get me moving again. Also lots of water to help the system, sometimes a little warm water even with lemon can be useful. I also continue with a high vegetable content. Hope this is of some help.

Best wishes

You could try prune juice best served from the fridge the juice is better for constipation than the fruit

Thank you for that will try

Hello Phoenixv.

I never had any problem with constipation nor the opposite) pre-urso. Started when I took urso from December 2010. I had to make adjustments to my diet even though I always had one rich in fibre (cooked with wholemeal/wholegrain flour most of the time, whole fruits and veg., etc) and seemed to do the trick.

I find when I go on holiday (I am in the UK, holidayed in UK since 2010) I do tend to find myself gone backwards again for a few days and constipated. I have took one of those Senokot tablets that are made of senna. Only ever had the one without any problems as I'd rather use diet. I usually have wholegrain porridge oats for breakfast but find some mornings the own brand supermarket equivalent of Weetabix (I don't like the texture of the brand) works a treat.

Hi Phoenixv,

For me its prunes and ground golden linseed -about 1 table spoon + half a mug of hot water, mix throughly and drink in the morning :-)

Magnesium Citrate is very safe and effective for me. Occasionally I take one teaspoon of Psylium Husk powder with 8 - 10 oz of water as additional fiber intake.
