Advice please: I don't know what to eat... - PBC Foundation
Advice please
Hello WendyHelena.
Apparently if we are in the early stages of PBC most medications are said to be 'well tolerated' (I read this in a PBC Foundation leaflet some time ago).
My husband had a bit of a bout of something over the festive season and at first I thought 'flu like symptons. We used what I was brought up with, squeeze some fresh lemon into hot water and add honey, that is good for the throat for a start. Paracetamol would probably be the most recommended as opposed to Ibuprofen as far as I can understand. I did read some place that paracetamol is better than aspirin.
I can't say regarding any experience of taking painkillers, etc with having PBC as I've not taken anything other than the urso since early 2010 when I started itching that led to me being diagnosed with PBC.
Hi Wendy Helena, I was advised not to take ibuprofen. Paracetamol is probably the best.
Try googling ' liver friendly food and drink' loads of sites come up with lists of good and bad. x
Hi Mrsfancypants
I wonder if this is the source of your headache. If you are able stay in bed or at least in your home - a nice even temperature - lots of fluids. I echo the thoughts of the others who have replied, better Paracetamol than lemsip or ibuprofen. Paracetamol helps to keep down your temperature as well as helping with any pain. Certainly just honey and hot water is much better than Lemsips. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory and is used to reduce fever and treat pain or inflammation caused by many conditions such as headache, toothache, back pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps, or minor injury not really for flu in my opinion.
Is anyone looking after you? I am just recovering from flu and my husband (both of us retired) has been making me nice fresh vegetable soups (using low salt stock cubes) which I have found easy to eat and digest.
hope you soon feel better
best wishes
not sure if you should be taking ibuprofen otherwise same a anyone else with flu.... plenty of fluids.
