ultra sound scan: hi I had a phone call today... - PBC Foundation
ultra sound scan
Hi, please don't worry. I'm 99% sure that the ultrasound scan is the same as a fibroscan - you can check this when you attend your appointment. It's good that they're keeping an eye on your progress. Don't be afraid to ask questions when you're there. Take care.
Ps. I'd recommend that you check out the PBC Foundation website. Just Google and you'll get it. Membership is free and there's lots of information about PBC available plus information re. access to meetings within your area.
Ultrasound is just to rule out other things they can't see PBC on it. Standard procedure I was told process of elimination.
I was told that a fibroscan could show details of liver and any damage. I go for one in a couple of weeks.
Here is a link to a site giving information about fibroscans and ultrasounds.
Ultrasound is no hassle i had them very quickly when i was first diagnosed.i think it shows slightly different things ....fibroscan is scarring measure but ultrsound will look at overall size of liver and gall bladder.they normally do spleen at same time as its quite common for spleen to be a bit bigger than normal.thats quite normal to have done ..i have one usually every 3/6months.its the fibro scan thats the new test.try not to worry.you will probably have several tests if they are looking at your liver but that is good as it means you are beimg looked after.best wishes cazer.
