Feeling rough

I am tired, had an awful headache and sickly feeling when eating. Bladder seems to be working overtime and bowel not working. Could this be Urso?

Happens when I over do it. Rest & pace yourself & it'll get back under control. My nurse says that all my energy is dealing with my liver so there's nothing left for anything else. I certainly can't flog myself the same as I could before diagnosis. I'm seeing my specialist to discuss it Thursday.

I dont think so. I never had a heat ache. Head ache could be because you might have some infection in your body (that is just a guess) Hope you feel better soon

It could be but may be just a bug. I had a sickness, headache and tiredness bug earlier this month that dragged on. It's the season for bugs so just hang on in there and see if it gets better before jumping to conclusions. If not better in a couple of weeks may be a good idea to see your GP. Take care xx

Hi Goldsworthy Helen, The same happened to me when I started Urso, I came off them and went to my gp. She gave me an enormous bottle of 'stuff' and told me to have a couple days on it to clear out my system. Constipation causes headaches plus the stress of it all. Now that I know that I can take this 'stuff' when I need it, and not all the time Im back on Urso with no problems with it. Hope this helps - incidentely I made myself some healthy Granola and I eat it in the morning and nighttime if Im hungry and I dont need the Stuff anymore. Kandipat

Thanks for information and advice. All symptoms been here the last two weeks since starting Urso. I am due at Drs tomorrow to discuss recent liver scan. I was in bed by 7.30 last night just couldn't put up with it any longer and I am so horrible and bitchy , moody and low.

Hello - unlikely to be Urso - more likely to be a bug or even stress. I am sure we all agree that PBC is a mysterious and stressful condition and stress itself produces lots of nasty symptoms. The tiredness is a key symptom of the pbc itself of course.

When I first took urso, I was scared of both the pbc diagnosis and the urso because the idea of swallowing acid seems unnatural and a little frightening. I felt faint the next day and ended up on the floor in a cinema. Of course I suspected the drug but looking back I think it was my fear not the urso.

I have now come to regard urso as my lifeline as it seems to be the one thing that slows this wretched condition and it does not give me any problems. Try to persevere with the urso and look for other causes of the symptoms - at least to start with.

Wish you better soon.

Hello Goldsworthyhelen.

Some of the symptons you are experiencing don't sound like the urso, the headache for instance.

However I myself have found since starting urso just over 5yrs ago, I started to get constipated that I never was pre-urso and I have found that moreso later in the day when I start to feel the prickles that are the prequel to the itch that starts later at night, I have found myself my bladder seems a bit more active than it ever was before.

I am not sure in my case if during the night when I find I am itching I have got into the habit of getting up and walking to the bathroom and then relieving myself as once I get back in bed for a very short spell the itch has vanished.

It seems that more PBC patients on urso tend to succumb to diarrhoea due to it but I have read on this site in the past that constipation has appeared for some.

I have stepped up fibre intake even though pre-urso I never had a problem. I know that urso can change the composition of stools and it can make them appear pasty-looking.

I had these symptoms and some others and after reading up and countless gp visits I have now started a gluten free diet which helps x
