I take 50g daily in the morning plus after work outs for recovery and my doctor was fine with me taking it.

I would supplement it with more protein through diet but after workout whey gets in faster and eases recovery.

Hello cavi.

I think whey is present in certain foods we consume.

I have seen tubs of this in health food stores and I think as the previous poster has mentioned, normally taken for someone who is into a lot of exercise and mainly bodybuilders.

As far as I have read regarding PBC unless one is in a certain stage with it as in cirrhosis then high protein diet isn't normally suggested. (I mentioned certain stage as I have read high protein diet is usually recommended but I don't know at what point so can't say anything further there as it would more than likely be under a doctor's supervision.)

I have the odd occasion bought the Complan (I am in the UK) powder that you can mix with either water or milk to make a milk type drink that has added vitamins and minerals but not something I consume a lot. I sometimes put some of the Complan in with an instant porridge to give it a less bland flavour. I'd nromally buy the original Complan and I tend to add my own cocoa for a chocolate drink as I do with the cocoa by addition to our UK Ready Brek porridge during the colder months.

Hello Cavi

I was recommended whey protein drink in the year prior to my transplant. I have to say it was not the most pleasant drink to have and after talking to the dietician she gave me a prescription for a protein drink called Fortisip which I am still having some five months since the operation. I found Fortisip far more tasty than whey and less thick. I have a variety of flavours. Meetings with the dietician was arranged while I was on the transplant list. I guess you must see your GP to arrange to see a dietician. Like you I had PBC.
