Sorry I don't seem to be able to get my head around this question with regards to TB check.

I had the BCG for tuberculosis at school when I was around 12 and to my knowledge not had a blood check for TB since.

My point exactly. I was told by my gastroenterologist that I need to be tested for TB BEFORE I can start immunosuppressants so I was wondering if anyone else with PBC/AIH had experienced the same. I know most children had the test at school, but in my case that was a long while ago!

Hello again MrsWorryGuts.

I only have PBC and know that for those with the AIH as well immunosuppresants tend to be given. I know back in around 1977 when I had mine done at school, one day medics came in and we all got stamped with what looked like a peppertop of holes on the back of our wrists think it was now. The following wk when medics returned, a quick look at the mark and you either got a letter to go for an x-ray or had the BCG. As far as I recall the ones who got x-rays often didn't need BCG as they had some immunity.

I thought TB had something to do with the chest, not liver? Might be wrong there.

Anyone else on here with AIH as I know there are who knows anything like this for MrsWorryGuts?

Hi I remember the BCG at school too. Maybe there is an outbreak of TB so that is why they were checking me, I also suffer with a bad chest so maybe a double check. Thanks for your reply. Any body else out there throw any light on the matter.
