hi all. firstly thank you to all of you who kindly responded to my earlier post re: having a liver biopsy. I've now had the procedure and wanted to ask how long it takes before the pain goes? I had my op on wednesday and yet my right side is still sore. I also feel quite weak - my blood pressure has been low. Thank you for your time.

after a liver biopsy
Hey nicky mine was tender for a few weeks.. Had mine in June distant memory now
Mine took a few days to settle. If you are worried about your blood pressure I think you should consult your doctor.
Take care x
Hello nicky407.
I expect the area will be tender for several days following a liver biopsy. After all the liver has suffered some trauma but it will be healing. Apparently there is a nerve running down the right side (I can't recall name of it now) but it's said that on point of impact with a liver biopsy one can occasionally feel a sudden shoulder pain due to this nerve.
I've never had a biopsy and no thank you nor do I ever want one. (I was diagnosed with abnormal LFTs, itching, fatigue and positive AMAs back in late 2010.)
Blood pressure can drop with trauma as I was informed as I went to ENT couple years ago and at the time my nose was bleeding my blood pressure had dropped. Low blood pressure is healthily than high blood pressure but you may perhaps want to seek medical advice with regards to not long since having a biopsy.
Get well recovered soon.
Hi Nicky, glad biopsy is over for you. I was very "conscious" of my side for a good week, maybe 2 & felt weak for about 5 days. I would think your blood pressure should be checked out especially due to your recent biopsy. Just because these procedures are "in & out in a day" it doesn't mean that our bodies won't react to the trauma.
I'm sure everything will turn out fine for you but take care of yourself & get recovered soon.
