Need skin help!

I know this might seem like the least of my worries but my skin since finishing loading dose injections is just so so bad. Full on acne all over my face and down onto my chest. I have been using my normal face wash 2x per day and trying to keep my skin as clean as possible.Any recommendations for any products people have used to try and get this under control would be much appreciated.

Hi,

I'm sorry to read that you've developed acne.

If you click on the Posts tab (just above title of your thread) and search for "acne" it should show several threads that might be relevant.

If you search for "BNF hydroxocobalamin" and look in side effects section then I think acne is listed as a possible side effect.

Some forum members who develop acne as a side effect report that it calms down eventually.

I got quite a few spots in the first few months of treatment. I can confirm that they did die down, presumably after my body fixed its stores. I found little spot patches with Nicotinamide to be somewhat helpful.

Hi Hgsn,I'm sorry to hear that your skin is suffering. I have recently started EOD SI in January 25, my skin had been unusually dry prior to SI, and suddenly I could see red spots everywhere, not puss filled but angry.

I spent a long time in the well known chemist shop Boots looking at ingredients and claims made by products, which is a very confusing business.

Eventually I chose to buy a product by the brand Eau Thermale AVENE. The one I bought is called 'Tolerance Control ' and described itself as "soothing skin recovery balm for dry reactive skin".

I have used it now for 3 weeks and it has definitely helped, although skin regeneration I think takes some time to happen. The brand does a wide range, so if dry skin is not what you have, they may have a product which can calm down your symptoms.

I am in my late fifties and was brought up with the idea that spots are the result of 'dirty' skin which needs cleaning. However, my lovely daughter who has struggled with acne for years has re-educated me and I now don't use harsh cleansers as this actually seems to make the skin flare more.

This is all personal to me, but I hope can be helpful to you too. Best wishes to you.

Also struggling with this! From this forum I learned that it’s bacterial due to the b12 and have started Acnecide (benzoyl peroxide) wash and gel followed by The Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc. slight improvement but read it was take up to 3 months to see a real improvement to keeping my fingers crossed as I get married in June! Never suffered with bad skin before even as a teenager!

I'm sorry, I can't recommend anything, except for reassurance that for the vast majority this is usually a temporary thing.

I had it, having never had acne in my life before.

Horrible while it lasted ( we're allowed to care about our appearance !) but it disappeared never to return !

Best wishes for speedy healing xx

I had this too. Horrible it was. I found the Elemis capsules - the pink and green combo really helped calm it down and they were lovely to use. I’ve read it’s homocysteine coming out.

I have subsequently wondered whether it’s because of an overloaded liver trying to detox - your skin of course is largest organ and if liver is struggling…. I would try liver support such as dandelion root, burdock root and milk thistle. Schisandra great too.

I had it too. It settled down and cleared up on its own.

This happened to my daughter. It lasted for about a year and then went away.

I dabbed mine with diluted tea tree oil which seemed to calm them a little. They eventually stopped so it’s only a temporary condition.

I suggest you work from the inside with vitamin D, omega 3 fish oil and zinc supplements, alongside folate. B12 works with many co-factors. Your system has been depleted for a while. Pus is your immune system at work. Boots do a sterile wound cleansing wipe, it's just salt solution as the active ingredient, but I had a pack and they seem to be helping some of my skin problems.

Just wish I could find something for the inside of my head!

Same! I've started using La Roche Posay Effeclar face wash and moisturiser, which has helped, and I also use the spot stickers on the bad ones overnight. Good luck!
