Skin condition

I had injections for b12 def for 2 weeks, this was completed about a month ago. Since having the injections my skin on my face has changed. Skin peeling, redness and blocked pores resulting in loads of black heads. Could this be due to the B 12 boosting injections ??

Any replies would be appreciated and what I can do to help with this??

Hi Lily2013 a wiser person than I has commented previously:

"The pimples/acne, is likely to be caused by microbes on your skin reacting to the additional B12 by producing substances that your skin is then reacting to. In theory this could be resolved by use of a good skin wash. You might have better luck talking to your pharmacist and seeing what they can recommend prior to your next maintenance shot - though there is always a chance that it was something that won't recur."

really sorry you are suffering - as clivealive says it is likely to be to do with the microbes on your skin but it could also be compounded by your immune system kicking back in again and when it does sometimes it goes a bit overboard, ie it may not be a recurring problem but the chances are that it probably is - particularly if you have been prone to acne in the past. Your best bet at the moment is probably to speak to a pharmacist as suggested and if that doesn't work then mention it to your GP.

Yes I've the same problem. Have never suffered with bad skin before. The spots I get are closed raised sore bumps in hairline on my face and neck. . They look like big white headshard blisters but are not as never pop. Also open pores on my nose and peeling dry skin. I keep the bumps dry with a medicated face wash. I moisturise the peeling nose! I'm getting fewer now but definitely caused by B12 injections. My red blotches fade eventually . Hope your face less sore soon.

I had a similar outbreak of spots and flaky skin too, around the mouth and on the scalp, during my loading doses. It cleared in a few days. Then 3 weeks later I had to re-start alternate day injections (privately, my GP refused) and the spots came back. Seems to be related.

Did you get loads of black heads on your face too? Thanks for your reply

No I only got white spots with redness, and flakey skin. Mostly around the mouth and some on scalp.
