Skin issues and b12

Hi guys! I am wondering if anyone here has experienced a continuous thickening of skin over their face. It started like dermatitis and was very itchy Now I am finding that the itch has gone but the skin over a couple of days after exfoliating starts to become like a dry mask and the only thing that softens it is thick oily creams Then I exfoliate it again and the process continues Any ideas? I feel it has to do with the regular b12 I'm on Daily SI ! Thank you x

I look to be corrected by others on here, but it's not something I have heard specifically connected with B12d, although the deficiency can cause numerous problems, including dry skin/skin changes.

However, as autoimmune diseases often go together, if you have PA, could it be Limited Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis ?

More details are available in

nhs.uk/conditions/scleroderma/

If you can open it.

(If not, let me know and I can add the full text in).

Good luck with finding a way to manage it, whatever is causing it.

Hi,

It's quite common for people with PA to also have psoriasis, an auto-immune skin condition.

Might be worth taking photos of skin problem and showing them to your doctor.

Maybe your doctor could refer you to a dermatologist.

NHS link about Psoriasis

nhs.uk/conditions/psoriasis/

Link mentions scaly skin but from reading other articles psoriasis can occur without scales.

Psoriasis UK (charity)

psoriasis-association.org.uk/

This link mentions different types of psoriasis.

I searched online for "early symptoms psoriasis" which mentioned thickened skin.

Also searched online for "skin side effects hydroxycobalamin".

This link (not sure you can access it) mentions potential side effects of hydroxycobalamin.

BNF hydroxycobalamin

B12 deficiency symptoms (skin symptoms are mentioned)

pernicious-anaemia-society....

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

cks.nice.org.uk/topics/anae...

b12-institute.nl/en/symptom... (from B12 Institute Netherlands)

Good luck with finding an answer.

Could it be the start of rosacea, which can also thicken skin, especially cheeks and nose ? Feel like we're all having a guess here and all equally likely. But at least a few things to look up.

I’ve had nothing like that brenanddave . But i have vitiligo on both lower legs . This is a harmless autoimmune condition which I have heard is sometimes found together with PA I have fair skin , so the vitiligo hardly shows .
