Itchy rash and SI B12?

I've been SI B12 EOD since 22/12 and in the past few days have developed red itchy bumps rash on the outside of my right leg. It looks like this is tracking a nerve up to my hip and to my sacrum. Is this to be expected? It calms down a little with anti histamine (1 a day) Thank you.

Hi Caradoc

Are you injecting sub-cutaneous or intramuscular?

What size needle?

I'm using 30g needles sub cutaneous.

This rash is now from my knees up to my pelvis/sacrum area. Hardly any below knees.

Hi Caradoc

That’s one large rash.

I would get a medical opinion that it’s nothing more serious.

Also I don’t inject in my thigh as I seem unable too without immediate or later discomfort.

Have you considered injecting into your abdomen which is what I do?

I also use a 30g needle, half inch. I find I need to inject much slower as the flow rate is less than through a larger needle.

I also inject into fatty abdomen. The rash is not absolutely everywhere, it seems to track nerve paths - although I'm no expert. I've just posted a plea for info on B12 savvy consultants as I do need medical advice. I need B12 but what to do if allergic?? I've got Gp appt in 4 days where I'll tell about self injecting- no idea what her response will be. 2 consultants have recommended this course of action though. (Endo and spinal specialist) I saw a rubbish locum GP before Xmas who, despite saying he knew very little about B12, went onto pronounce that I didn't have a B12 issue. So I felt I had little option but to start injecting as per NICE guidelines for neurological symptoms. And some of these have improved in 4 weeks. Thank you for your reply 💐
