Suggestions on what's next B12 injections

Hello everyone. I've been doing my injections for about 1month now alternate dates and then switched based on how I felt to everyday injections. I feel so much improved, my brain& thoughts no longer feels like a million puzzles I cant put together and I'm starting to feel like myself again. My breathing has also improved. I literally felt on some days like im loosing oxygen, of course this is bc of red blood cells affected. Now I feel like I can breathe , heart isn't thumping as it use to. YES!! Finally a good night sleep without worry.

My question is what's next, should I lessen to a week / or every month now for my injections? Just wanted some thoughts/suggestions from others who have started to feel better and what regiment worked for them. I know it's not a one size fits all thing but any recommendations will be helpful. I just don't want to head downhill when I'm just starting to see the light. I would hate to regress, I want to be in control again. Thanks for your input!!

All the best !

I would carry on for nos with youf current regime as its been so effective in a very short time .

Then try every other day . If symptoms worsen go back to daily .

It's keeping your symptoms at bay with a personal regime that suits you.

Of course go by how you feel, but I think after a month it's far too soon to be spreading out injections. Every time I try that symptoms start returning, often within days. I have read somewhere that it can take two years, especially for brain and nerves, to recover fron deprivation. However, you won't know until you try.

One month is too soon. You need at least six months to a year to understand how your body functions. Time is needed for B12 to enter every cell in your body, including the bone marrow, brain and all the nerves to function efficiently again. My recovery was two to three years but, I was unwell for a long period before I began my self injecting.

One month is not sufficient time to make changes. Continue with what you’re doing and make very minimal adjustments, keep a journal of the progress and symptoms and if you begin to feel unwell again you can return to worked the best for you.

Hi Destiny,

I'm no expert but one way One is to stay on EOD until no further improvement is achieved, say, 1 month after all your symptoms have gone. Then you can proceed cautiously with reducing the frequency., say, every 3 days for a month and if that is OK then drop to every 5 days for 2 months etc. I wouldn't take the risk of going below every 4 weeks, though. Its not worth risking your neurological symptoms returning. Reducing gradually should help to minimise any rebound effects.

Hello Destiny,My experience brings me to agree with others that it is too soon to reduce your frequency of injections. It has taken me a whole year of injecting EOD and then daily to start to see sustained improvement, and to even recognise some of the symptoms I have had for years as linked to B12D . When you start to reduce your dose, your symtpms will quickly return if it is too soon. (I have actually increased my dose frequency further to be able to navigate the Christmas season with houseguests and multiple festive events.)

Not what you're looking for?
