I'm wondering if this is a sign of a new nerve improvement. I was chopping onions yesterday and my eyes started burning and tears were running down my face. I had to step away it got so bad. I know this isn't an unusual reaction to chopping onions but I suddenly realized I haven't cried when doing this for a few years now. I remember this happening before I became B12 deficient but I have't reacted like this for a long time. I don't think it was the type of onion (just a plain yellow onion like I always cook with.). The return of burning eyes started a couple of weeks ago but I just noticed it had returned. Has this happened to anyone else?

A New Sign of Improvement?
Yes!
Yes. It's bad luck for my partner as he has to do all the onion prep now. The same with fish. I hate fish but while I was B12D I could handle and cook it. Now my sense of smell has come back I can't stand handling it.
Hi MoKayD
What a super sleuth you are! 🏆
Yes, but I hadn’t realised or associated this with B12. I have only been crying peeling onions these last two months or so, and I am approaching the end of my two years of self treatment! 😋
I had assumed it was due to the onions being fresh at the start of winter but I now don’t think that to be the case because on reflection I haven’t had onion tears for many years!
Great observation. Great post!
🤗🤗🤣🤗
I have dry eyes and despite years of B12 jabs, I still don't cry when chopping onions - I wish I could, as it feels like I've had acid sprayed in my eyes and I can't cry to clear it! My children did suggest wearing swimming goggles to help while chopping, but I declined 🤣
It does feel like acid doesn't it. Unfortunately onions are so delicious.
