Hello
I just received my order from Panpharma and realised I ordered Cyanocobalamin instead of Hydroxo which I usually use. Am I likely to notice a difference, any side effects etc. to be concerned about?
Hello

I found that for me Cyanocobalamin and Hydroxocobalamin were equivalent. I do not know about now as that was 6+- months ago.
You may just need to inject more frequently as traditionally cyano was for every four weeks.
I've been on cyano for over 52 years
I wish you well.
How annoying!!My friend has used both and noticed no difference as injects weekly.
She didn't get on with methylcobalabin though.
Bad mood and irritable .
She's in Canada so uses cyanocobalamin all the time now as cheaper and easily available.
I’m quite new at this but recently switched from cyano to hyroxo and am only needing to inject half as often.
That’s so annoying for you ! Obviously the pharmacy won’t take it back because they don’t know how it’s been stored . You should be OK with it , but might need to inject more often .
When ordering. always search for “VitaminB12 DEPOT , “, which identifies Hydroxocobalamin!
Best wishes.
I use cyanocobalamin as it is available in BC, Canada without a prescription. I have read several journal papers about injecting B12 for PA. It looks like that it gets excreted faster than hydrocobalamin. So bear in mind that you might need injections more often than you usually do.
Hi Csl1
I did the same TWICE!
I only noticed after I had used about 3-4 ampules as I started to get symptoms and headache before my next injection was due and that’s when I double checked and realised it was cyano. The packaging is identical apart from the word “depot”!
I switched back to Hydroxocobalamin and found a new home for the cyano!
🤗🤗🤗
I did this once and found that for some reason it was easier to inject, less stingy. The effects were no different, so wouldn’t worry if it happened again 😊
The only contra-indications to using cyano-cobalamin is if you are alergic or if you have a rare genetic condition called Lebers syndrome - which means you have a particular sensitivity to the cyano element.
I do very well injecting Cyano and like others have said, you may have to inject more frequently. Best of luck
Thank you all. I have decided to reorder some B12 depot rather than taking the risk of a reaction or having to inject more. This does mean I have 2 boxes of 10 x 1ml ampules of Cyanocobalamin I would be happy to post on to somebody (if that is allowed/recommended). No payment required just happy to pass it on to somebody who might need it
