hi everyone

Isn't that the new definition of P.A?
I experience a lowering of blood pressure after eating as the blood rushes to the stomach to increase acid levels - at least - that's what I think - and I've had P.A for over 52 years.
I am not a medically trained person.
I wish you well
I think acid reflux csn affect your ears.Ears /eustation tubes and other ? Tubes affecting balance.
B.p csn skso be affected.
My daughter had degrees of this .
It pugt her off eating snd caused a vicious circle at the time.
I’m thinking it’s a bit odd that the Dr said the feeling of fainting is from GERD ?!
Indeed Gerd can make you feel faint.........
Can GERD make you feel like passing out?
Shock-like symptoms, including sudden weakness, dizziness, fainting or confusion demand that you go to the emergency room immediately. Barring other causes, your symptoms may stem from severe acid reflux.
Your Gp will probably prescribe proton pump inhibitors such as Lansoprazole or Omeprazole which over time will contribute to your B12 deficiency. Ask your Dr to refer you to a gastrologist.
Avoid eating fatty foods such as cheese ect before going to bed and try raising your pillows. It's not a pleasant condition I suffer with it myself. Try eating smaller meals and eating slower to see if it helps.
I have this too and am convinced it’s caused by stomach inflammation. There is a condition where your inflamed stomach presses on your vagus nerve causing irregular heartbeats and faintness, I too went to the emergency room a couple of times only to be told me heart was okay. I was told to take proton pump inhibitors on lowest dose and try to reduce stress and avoid foods that aggravate it as well as eating little and often and not have huge meals . I hope you feel better soon, I have yet to take the proton pump inhibitors as I’m worried about making my B12 deficiency worse, but I’m feeling there’s no other option as the gastritis is really bad. Good luck!
Ugh, that sounds so horrible to have to endure! But, Wierd this topic should come up atm,
2 weeks ago i flew back from few days in Venice with a friend. We both had developed an upset tummy that morning, and in fear of mishaps on our boat/trains/ plane journey had taken x2 immodium each (a drug i haven't taken in around 40 years). Glass of wine at the airport as usual. An hour into the plane journey and without warning, I suddenly fainted and apparently had seizure like shaking eyes rolling. Wet myself too. Scary. Tests on arrival at airport paramedics did tests and said heart, blood sugars, blood pressure ( a little high) but etc fine. Hospital straight after said - after doing same tests and urine sample - also fine. Sent me home. Since I was told not to drive for 2 weeks I thought od better ask gp if all was clear for me to drive again - she v concerned I hadn't had eeg or mri at the time as this was Highly Unusual to wee self - and my first faint with shakes etc.
Still waiting on 'urgent testing'- but thankfully have been fine since.
I wondered if its possible connected with b12 stuff (I've had injections these last 12 yeats ) and the immodium absorption ? Low blood sugars and the alcohol?
I'm a fairly regular flyer, this has never happened before... any ideas while I wait and see if any info comes up?
Sorry long post, !
could it be the Imodium and the wine combination ?
Hi Luckymaria, I had the exact same thing happen to me 6 weeks ago (without the wine and Imodium!). Flying back home and feeling no more washed out than usual though did have two late nights, the flight was quite stuffy and full but didn’t really notice it until 2 hours in and all of a sudden came over super hot and clammy and passed out - luckily only had another 30mins to go and crew gave me oxygen etc. I have an irregular heartbeat anyway but I went and had blood tests done 2 days later and that’s when they discovered my b12 was in the unusually low zone and had been in decline for years (but only now just triggered as unusual). They put me on the two weeks loading dose- and then thanks to this group I realised I was then reversing out as feeling just as tired as before. Went to a health shop and they recommended to go on a vitamin b complex that is dropped on under the tongue - it worked great for stopping me needing to go to the loo all of the sudden and also in the middle of the night - but then I think I was taking too much as was feeling faint and dizzy and also came out with spots which too much b vitamins can cause apparently- so now stopped taking that and bladder has returned to being inconsistent and needing to go in the night. Now waiting for more blood tests but just wanted to mention my story as I definitely think the fainting, loss of bladder control are all linked to the b vitamins.
Hi there—I’m curious if you have other GERD symptoms? I’m more apt to agree with Tiredycake’s theory. I don’t have faintness after I eat but my horrible air hunger/shortness of breath gets worse after I eat. I often wonder if my stomach is causing the problem.
One possibility is postprandial hypotension, as another poster alluded to. If you have a blood pressure cuff and can manage to check your BP when the faint feeling happens you may be able to catch low readings (or rule it out).
