still feeling rotten after vaccines

I am still feeling very unwell after my flu and Covid vaccines last weekend. Feel very shaky and weak and lost my appetite. Not sure if it has affected my absorption of B12 etc, or whether it is just a reaction to the jabs. I did have the over 65s flu jab this year, and wondered if it could have more of an effect. I’ve never had this reaction to either of the jabs before. I would have thought if it was a reaction it would have passed by now.

There are a lot of bugs around at the moment. Its possible that you are feeling rough because you've picked one up. We are all feeling the same, but we haven't had our jabs yet. We cancelled them last week as we were feeling unwell. The whole family came down with the same virus on the same day, including my daughter and her family, who don't live with us, but visited last weekend. So there was a Typhoid Mary somewhere in the house that day. 😷

I have to confess that after my Covid jab in one arm and flu jab in the other both my arms were swollen, sore and red for several days and then very itchy for a while as well. It set me back for at least 48 hours feeling quite unwell. It took me a little time to feel better and that seemed to happen all of a sudden. I think the new Covid one was the most challenging. I also think that we are probably more susceptible to these reactions but have to acknowledge that I believe these are useful preventative measures in the longer term. Hope you feel better soon.

I felt reasonable until I had my flu jab on Thursday , Friday I could not walk in a straight line and felt light headed, Saturday I slept all afternoon and all evening , Sunday I had a really horrible head in the day and then I woke early this morning with my heart racing, going hot and cold and a very dry mouth. I find the flu jab has really affected me since I developed PA but no one seems to believe me , just hoping that this wears off quickly as some years its taken me all winter to get back on an even keel but I feel dammed if I do have it and dammed if I dont. Is anyone else affected on a regular basis?

Yes. Every winter I dread the injections and never have them together. I feel ill about a week later, am in bed for 2 days and 2 weeks to recover…..

My non PA hubbie had his jabs last week and for someone who never usually has reactions to anything, he's felt quite under the weather for 3/4 days. I did suggest he should have flu and Covid separately, so he booked for flu but couldn't resist the BOGOF offer at the local chemist... 🙄

Hi Chickens

Whatever the reason for how you feel if that were me I would increase my B12 injections at least until I felt well again.

Your body is under attack and it’s trying to respond but it needs help.

This is the time of year when I take a spoonful of fire cider a day and homemade elderberry extract. Both are good to boost the immune system and both are easy to make and can be foraged from hedgerows if you are near some blackberries, rosehips, hawthorn berries, elderberries etc. or use purchased items. Lots of recipes on Facebook

Keep warm and keep dosed up and I hope you feel better soon

🤗🤗🤗

I haven’t been invited for a Covid vaccine since the last one I had in November 2022 but I’ve just had the flu vaccine.

I had a very slightly sore arm for 12 hours or so and a headache for the same but otherwise was fine. The next day I wouldn’t have known I’d had a vaccine.

Did you have the over 65s flu vaccine?

I didn’t think there were different vaccines for under and over 65s? I’m 64 and was invited for the vaccine by my GP surgery. Everyone else in the queue looked around my age, a bit younger or a bit older.

I’m 64, but am 65 before end of March next year so qualify. It’s not until you get in the room they check if you eligible.

Hi,

If people have a bad reaction to vaccines in UK they can use MHRA yellow card system to report it.

yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

MHRA is the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

I know. But I’m not sure if it is a reaction or if it has just affected how my B12 is absorbed, or just reversing out. Difficult to tell.
