I did a 45 minute spin class last night and I feel no pain today

Just wanted to share a positive update. Been on b12 injections since around March 2023. It's been a rough ride to say the least but I'm celebrating cuz I was actually able to do a spin class last night!

The ability to exercise has been up and down the past few months. Right when I think I can do it and have a couple weeks where I can get on the elliptical or something, then I can't anymore.

Anyway, been consistently going for walks for a couple months seeing continual progress in recovery and distance. The farthest I've gone is 2 miles. I've also been wearing my fit bit and getting 5k to 9k steps per day. I've been around 1.5k steps a day for years. I'm also working full time again.

I wasnt able to do any of these things for quite a long time. It's been about 5 or 6 years since I've been able to exercise. I was a spin instructor. Working ft (office) became a massive ordeal about 5 years ago. I wasnt able to walk more than a block for past 4 years.

Not being able to work out was so depressing to me. Even when I used to work out and was an instructor it was HARD cuz my feet would always go numb after about 15 mins. I needed a minimum of 2 days between workouts to recover and even then i never really recovered. I'd feel like I was hit by a bus the next day. I was just in pain all the time. But I persisted trying for years and I did keep going. It was so hard to watch other people's health increase as they continue to work out while mine just kept declining.

Just wanted to share this cuz it's a massive win for me :)

That’s amazing! I’m so happy for you - recovery can be so slow, can’t it? And backwards and forwards all the time. I’m glad you’re having some consistent wins

That's such brilliant news! The loss of energy must have been so hard for you, as someone who was clearly very fit befire B12 deficiency hit. Great that you are getting back to your previous exercise levels!

Oh sooo Blessed, thank you for sharing this wonderful news with us! I'm so happy for you. I will ask how often are you injecting now? I read your other posts for support all the time because like you being so ill for so long I had been ill now that I think back for 6 1/2 years as well. this is my 4th month of inj. I had to start from eod to now .7 ml everyday and I plan on staying on that.

well I'm celebrating for you as well.

congratulations!! 🥳🥳🥳

It’s so encouraging to read.

Slow and steady wins the race heh!

I’m learning this too and have finally managed to work my way up to a 20 minute resistance and weights workout 3 times a week. After months of boom and bust I am learning to pace myself.

Thanks for sharing! 🌱

congratulations! Thank you for sharing. I can't remember reading someone else say they felt like they were hit by a bus after exercise, and that's super helpful, since I feel similar but don't have an official b12d or PA diagnosis. Everything you've shared is very encouraging!

I'm so happy for you! It's so tough when you're used to being a fit, active person I know. Medics just think you should lower your expectations and not do strenuous things - as if that would make you feel better. Here's to many more days like this in future! 💪💪💪
