B12 Self Injection Regimes - Are you dosing higher? and more frequently than NICE says? How's it going...?

Hi Health Detectives

Hey...how about a quick hands-up Poll..?

I have been doing 2mg SI Pascoes Cyan a day for nearly two week, plus 6mg Sublingually. With low level B6, B1 and B9 daily ..and a bi-weekly 2mg dosage of Potassium Glut in addition

I have some pretty decent improvements. I defo have more energy, but have bouts of low energy still, I dont wake up half dead, and my head is clearer...for hours at a time. Early days I know...

I just wondered how many of us are on their personal regimes...and ABOVE the NICE dosing and frequency guidance..?

I would be really interested to hear what you have shaped up for yourselves...your B12 learnings and ..Recovery Regimes...?

Thanks and best wishes to all ..

Hi Treesong2023,

I think the majority of us SI according to our symptoms. So, clearly not NICE “guidelines”. Lots of us have had very severe symptoms so, our recovery will inevitably take longer. Most of us have other diseases or illnesses that complicate recovery and our well-being.

Our age and lifestyle also influences how well we are. Life events and getting hit with a virus also impacts our health. We have relapses and setbacks but that is just part of the course and life in general.

Thanks Narwhale - Totally get that - I just think sharing what we did/do might be a good reference? for example:

After all my deliberations and checks.. I have set my "initial load up" regime at 4mg per day via SI and 6mg per day by Sub-lingually. I intend to keep it for 4 weeks and drop to 2mg EOD & 4mg SL from then on. I will re-assess after 3 months.

At the moment, my normal is to do 1mg Hydroxocobalamin IM every other day.

I have had a few days where I did an injection every day because of a virus/period/crazy busy day (one of those days was all three of those, which I thought was really rude of my body).

I’m pretty sure my iron is getting low (blood test tomorrow) because I had a few weeks there with a lovely amount of energy, and now I am getting breathless and tired again. Very frustrating.

I have SI’d EOD for 18 months and will continue to do so as infinitum.

What dosage are you using ? 1mg per SI..?

Not sure but Pascoe brand like Denise. It has taken me 18 months to start feeling like myself again, although like many others on this site I discovered I’m also hypothyroid and am improving with levothyroxine treatment too

1.5mg in 1ml hydroxocobalamin (Pascoe brand) daily SI for 9+ years.Unrecognisable from where I was (could barely walk or talk, no memory, asleep most of the time: now doing better than I ever thought possible) and still improving (despite getting older!!).

Thanks Lovely Folks... :-)

SI 1mg Pascoe Cyanocobalamin Mondays & Friday evenings. I have found If I inject mornings it keeps me awake at night but if I inject at night I have more energy the next day. It seems to kick in around the 12 hour mark for me.

Thank yoo! Interesting to note that there is a "kick-in" 12hours or so after.. i wonder if that means your system "gathers" other elements ..then gets going..?

Insomnia two nights a week was terrible. I am glad I found a solution! I am not sure why it takes so long to kick in. Some folks feel it right away. I have megaloblastic anemia, maybe that makes a difference.

Hydroxocobalamin 1 ampoule every other day. Occasionally I miss a day, usually because I'm forgetful about when I last did one. I regress to inactivity and brain fog, and noticeable hunger, despite a full tummy.

The other thing I notice about things in general, when I am doing regular injections, is often mental strain/emotional upset is more exhausting and debilitating than physical activity. Just 'executive function skills' not lining up to achieve stuff I need to do.

Good news is I got an electric bike, so aiming to get some fitness back.

Oneash, thank you. I would observe that for you, the b12 seems to have an effect for 24 hours...? That indicates your "use up" rate..? I think that (for me) the effect of the B12 helps with mood first..then energy.. So, when the B12 effect lowers....the mental/mood side gets affected...?

Good luck on new bike..!
