Lump after jab.........

Good morning everyone

I have eventually purchased B12 and all the required stuff to SI.......Been having jabs every 8 weeks since 2016..........Going to start with every 4 weeks to begin....cautious.....Anyway I have a retired nursing sister as a neighbour so she did my first jab intrramuscular into my thigh........that was 10 days ago.........I still have a distinctive bruise, but also a slightly painful lump.....Has anyone else experienced this?.........

hello edeuweed, I s.i. subcutaneously and I bruise and have a small lump sometimes, which I help disperse with a gentle rub. I hope someone who I.M injects can comment further. Best wishes x

yep - did it to myself, I have a dent in my leg there now too 😞 I think I bruised a blood vessel or something and am much more careful to withdraw and change needle and try again elsewhere if I get so much as a little resistance or pain deep where I’m injecting. I’ve worked out it shouldn’t hurt at all apart from the initial sharp scratch feeling.

Hi. I recently had a lump come up on my 6th loading dose. Had b12 inj previously, about 50,never happened before, but apparently nurse said my muscle spasm ed. I didn't feel it,but she warned it would cramp which it did and by time I arrived home,10 mins or so, had a golf ball lump. Had one since and was fine...I wonder if I sat with arm slightly on the twist,whereas I normally try hard to keep.it relaxed? Hope yours ok next time...

I had a couple of bruises after sub-q self injection, and a bit of a lump. I think the bruises were because I used too large (diameter) of a needle (I have three different needles and sometimes forget which is which!).

If I use a really thin needle, and inject into my spare tyre (never thought I'd be grateful to have one!!) no bruises, and no lumps!

I am not a doctor, not meant as medical advice, just my own experiences, YMMV.

I got these ones from Amazon amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09...

They're about an inch long and very thin - like "thinner than a human hair" type thin, but they are [IME] so easy to inject with.

I use a 1ml diabetes syringe complete with 13mm needle I use it to IM into arm or thigh, if you want to, use for SC too. I used to use a 1” needle to jab IM, but using the shorter needle has made no difference for me except improved jabbing comfort. I also sometimes feel a lump but it’s only the liquid collecting at the point of injections, a good massaging around that point distributes the liquid. Try not to over worry about it. For instance, about 3 weeks ago a phlebotomist took blood for testing and over that day a bruise began to appear until it was about an inch diameter. It looked scary but I knew it was just blood that had leaked into the tissue outside the vein used to take blood and just ignored it. It went after a week. I’m sure we’ve all knocked parts of our bodies against something hard and it’s turned into a blue bruise, it’s the same thing, a small broken blood vessel.

hello, should you ever decide to subcutaneously inject this may help: I used 12.9mm/ half inch 30g yellow BD needle.

Now I'm thin, with little fat so now using 6mm 30g yellow needle Antonmove from Amazon uk. I watched many youtube videos showing how to do subcut injections. Also use ampule opener to save cutting fingers.

Brilliant Wheat.........thank you for that information.........I'm guessing down the line I will need my husband to SC inject me..........I have tremor......so it would be entertaining to totally SI.......Unless, of course, a bloody miracle happens and more B12 sorts the tremor..........Oh.....In my dreams X

I use a 30G 1/2 " yellow needle for subcutaneous B12 injections. Havd been doing this for over 3 yesrs now.

Just as effective as IM .

I still have an IM one at thd surgery as darnt change a thing but the IM one may go in quicker bur has never lasted longer.

You'd think it would as deeper but in my experience it doesnt.

I have an occasional torso tremor. I have to s.i. With nystagmus (vertigo like eyesight) and occasional involuntary double jerks in both hands , I jerk the needle out, or jerk and drop the syringe and it lies suspended in the body. Mostly I find it funny.

One year on and this does still happens but not as much. Every person is different, but I ve noticed improvement everytime I increase injections, but I wish it was not necessary. 🙂x

You have made me laugh....even though it's not a laughing matter.....Some days it's easier to cope with this shit than othersX
