Perhaps Psf1 like me (after 46 years with P.A.) your frequency of injections may need to be increased.

It is also important that your Folate level is monitored and maybe your Vitamin D too.

Go back to your doctor and if possible take someone with you who can validate your list of neurological symptoms as the doctor is less likely to pooh pooh you in front of a witness.

I am not a medically trained person.

I wish you well.

Thanks for the reply clivealive . I’m actually on vitamin d loading doses at the moment for next three months, do u think this is why I’m getting these symptoms because of my low vit D .

It could well be.

Symptoms of vitamin D deficiency include chronic pain, weak bones, frequent infections (recent research has detected an association between vitamin D deficiency and severe pneumonia), depression and fatigue.

There is a complex interaction between folic acid, vitamin B12 and iron. A deficiency of one may be "masked" by excess of another so the three must always be in balance.

Symptoms of a folate deficiency can include:

symptoms related to anaemia

reduced sense of taste

diarrhoea

numbness and tingling in the feet and hands

muscle weakness

depression

Folic acid works closely with vitamin B12 in making red blood cells and helps iron function properly in the body

Thankyou I will ask for my folate checked , I’m also taking meds for recently diagnosed blood pressure, and anxiety,, propranolol. Falling apart at the seams lol .

Same here but after 46 years of P.A. I'm still "clivealive" and over 75 :)

Sorry folic acid . Is this checked with a blood text too ?

It's a serum Folate test not automatically included in a FBC.

I think you will need to ask specifically for it.

Your doctor should know of its importance in relation to the B12 you are having injected as per my previous comment above.

First of all, I wish everyone a better year for 2018. 🤗

Thankyou for the info clivealive. It is so encouraging to get this because my doctor isn't the least bit interested. Same one who 3 months ago told me not to bother coming back to see him again because I dared to stop taking antidepressant which was making me ill physically. We only have the one doctor except for sometimes 1 day a week when a locum comes. It was one of them who told me to try the patches. I am due next injection on the 23rd January. The patches have been a great blessing. I am already on vitamin D but nobody has ever mentioned Folate so will ask the nurse about it.

Personally I use a methylcobamalin mouth spray between injections and it "keeps me going"...

Does folate means b9? And also do folate level have any link with hemoglobin level?

folate is B9.

folate deficiency has the same effect on red blood cells as B12 deficiency - leading to macrocytosis in which red blood cells are larger and rounder than normal, but it doesn't have a direct impact on the levels of iron in your blood.

folic acid/B9 and B12 help your iron to make red blood cells and to function properly.

Have you been checked for auto-immune thyroidosis? - something like 40% of people with PA will go on to develop auto-immune thyroidosis. Symptoms overlap considerably.
