To start with, I was always losing my worms. I also got words confused - strawberry and tomato, cucumber and cauliflower, swing and slide - much to the hilarity of my Granddaughter 🤣
Strangely enough, I had no problem with words until I started on jabs. I don't have the word confusion now, but I do occasionally forget words, but then I am on the wrong side of 60! Usually its only when I'm either tired or nervous.
Doc has always blamed it on a mini stroke that I had about 9 years ago, although I dispute that it was a stroke and firmly believe that it was untreated P.A.
I found it so frustrating. People looked at me like I was an alien from the planet Zog, who was sadly lacking in brain power when I forgot simple words or said the wrong word. 🙁
I've had a few interviews recently for a job I'm pretty good at, but it's difficult to impress when you stop mid sentence because you can't think of a word!
yes, I’m a teacher and would find myself unable to remember what lesson we were on next despite having written all the materials myself. Often have to play the guess which word I can’t remember game with my students 🙈 young people are great, so helpful and kind . I have Hashimoto’s, B12 is always low without daily supplements but untested, I SI too, and perimenopausal. Tiredness is often a factor for me 🌱
Definitely but perhaps more from sorting my thyroid (I take T4 and T3) and vitamins (ferritin especially) than from the B12 which stops me walking into door frames and waking up with numb arms/tingling fingers 🌱
My brain fog compleyely disappeared when I had the right balance of vitamins (I don't have a thyroid prob tho). GP insistent it was menopause. Nope! The last key for me was ferritin. Bang! I was right back on form. Currently struggling again as levels have once more dropped. But I know it's fixable now. Good luck, it's so frustrating. 🤗
It's advisable to have an iron panel test before supplementing with iron though. It is possible to overdose with iron. There is a condition called Iron deficiency without anaemia. Rexz has posted on this previously. So yes, this was definitely a factor for me, but it seems just one part in the jigsaw. Definitely worth considering though and checking the articles Rexz shared. 😊
Thereafter, I have always called an instruction manual a "Book of worms". Though not being in contact with the people who might have understood, most often in my head rather than spoken.
When I was at my worst, I stammered, came out with random words or lost my words completely. I was eventually given 5 loading doses by the GP, but these basically didn't even touch the sides, and my speech got worse. It wasn't until I persuaded him to inject every other day for a couple of months that my speech (and the rest of my symptoms) started to improve. I now SI twice a week and still have some brain fog, but it's far less noticeable.
I'm only six weeks in to EOB SI but I still lose my words, worse when I'm tired. I sometimes just completely lose track of what I was even talking about, especially if someone interrupts me, or sometimes will just substitute sandwich for sausages or something silly. I think this is why socialising is so draining because you become more conscious of it and try to be "on the ball" all the time! At home, my husband just laughs along with me!
