Inspired by a post by Wwwdot "One Year Later" I decided to walk the same 5K route that I had walked 6 months ago.

I 'knew' my self treatment was successful. I wanted a definitive marker and was willing to face that there was no improvement in my ability to walk the same 5K. A small leap of faith.

I walked the route with exactly the same gear as 6 months ago. The temperature was a bit colder.

I was able to walk the full distance which includes hills without stopping which was not possible 6 months ago. It was not easy and the last hill was one foot in front of the other.

Very importantly there was no recovery needed that day and all I needed to do was sleep three times the next day and it was healing sleep.

Not yet wonderful! Shows I am headed in the right direction ignoring the map of failed experts and understanding not everyone needs the forms, frequency, amount, or concentration of B12 injections that I needed to accomplish what I have. Still doing trials to determine what is most effective.

Currently injecting every three hours and if I wake up in the night injecting then.

As I wrote it occured to me that the last hill at the end of my 5K was possible when 61 meters was not 3 years 5 months ago and I was 4 weeks from death. GP would have kept me alive. Just barely and they never would have felt a thing.

There is no reason other than arrogance and using 60 year old understanding of RDA's/1 mg that healing to the point I have needs to take this long. No reason to believe I would not have become one of the statistics that I have permanent damage and nothing can be done other than to eat leafy greens etc.

Hi Wiz

A truly truly wonderful post. I think these landmarks are important for us all to do. It is so easy not to see the wood from the trees when life is a daily battle.

As you say, it’s not only the task achieved but the recovery time too which combined show the true progress.

Excellent trialling!!!

🤗🤗🤗

I consider any recovery other than rest and sleep to be an indication of likely under supplementation. Allowing it is possible that what happens is I have exceeded my body's current capacity to heal and not supplementation related.

I reject that there is any rational reason to believe that it takes years for my body to heal other than under supplementation. What is it about the human body that takes a biochemical reaction to take effect over years. This is not to say I do not believe that people experience improvement over years just that the cause is not how the body necessarily works.

I am way further along than you. However I still from time to time need to change my regime. I found out I can no longer tolerate many medications or supplements in tablet form. I now take most of my supplements in tincture or oil form, under the tongue. They are difficult to find as I also have a problem with lemon/ ascorbic acid added as ‘ vitamin C’ , however more likely as a preservative. When I am in my Balance, I need to inject 2 times a week. When I have a Grandaughter/ toddler day, then I deplete much faster as I pass the 10.000 steps and more. I inject the day before and the day after and when I continue having busy days , I keep it up until I am back in my normal routine. Until now I haven’t felt the inclination to inject more then once a day ever but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t try ever. All of us find a way to make life as ‘normal ‘ as is possible. I have never regressed to my worst levels and hope that won’t happen either for the foreseeable future. I am experimenting with different types of vitamin B12 and hope for more improvements. Nothing to report on that just now.

By further along I assume you mean you have been self treating longer. 🙂

My goal has never been to live as normal life as possible. I want to thrive. There may come a time when I have exhausted discovery and exploration and will at that time accept I am limited.

I have always worked with the assumption that if I can use up my B12 I am under supplementing. I enjoy living a varied life and can not imagine being restricted by guessing how my life might affect my body's need for supplementation.

Being tired is normal. Having symptoms is not.
