Did anyone during 'reversing out' (first months of injections) - find that their mental health symptoms also worsened? I feel depressed...

This is hard. I know that I must persevere. Symtpoms are all heightened, it's hard to keep the faith. But I am persisting nonetheless.

Wondering if anyone else felt in a deep mental hole while while reversing out?

All sounds as though your symptoms worse before better. Hang in there. It's a rollercoaster.

Early days.

Things will improve.

Takes time lots of b12 and a patience I never knew existed .

Thank you.

I am eternally grateful to you and others on here for encouragement, and also sharing their own experiences, so that I know that I am not alone.

Reversing out is incredibly hard, and feeling so down, whilst being heightened, is hard.

I must be patient, keep the faith, and persist 🙏🏼🌺

It seems, the only way out is through.

Hi Suffering-sunny

Yes! Never felt so sorry for myself or scared in my life. I cried so much that I stopped noticing that I was crying. 😭 See it as part of the recovery process.

When cells are being constantly removed little and often in a healthy body by the production of new cells we hardly notice, all those toxins go gradually. Your body has a build up of dead cells that have to be removed and I think that has an effect on how we feel. I felt all over the place emotionally.

Hang in there and dream of blue skies and sunshine as you will soon come out the other side with a huge smile on your face!

🤗🤗🤗

I’ve been SI EOD since Oct 13th. I’ve been mostly good with lots of symptoms gone or diminished. Get the odd times when balance and gait become more apparent, cognitive wise some aspects arise then disappear but today the peripheral neuropathy I thought had gone has mildly returned in one hand (telling me it’s still around and ready to bite me if I weaken with my jabs) and I am in a very low mood. These may be caused by stress though, as I have a GP appointment today pm to continue with an ongoing conversation we’ve been having, but I’m thinking the worst so I won’t be too disappointed. But I’m ’chalk and cheese’ compared to pre SI days, keep on keeping on…..I’m just going to call you, Sunny. 🙂🙏

Hi Suffering_sunny, firstly please know you’re not alone. Keep going but be gentle with yourself too - you’ve got this!

Obviously PA can affect your mental health so it could be linked to reversing out. However, a couple of months after starting treatment, I felt incredibly down, overwhelmed, negative and tearful - I couldn’t pull myself out of the hole and I was struggling to cope. Turns out my iron levels had dropped and I was borderline anaemic. GP prescribed ferrous fumerate tablets and around a week later I noticed a massive improvement in my mood.

My understanding is that other vitamins, like iron, potassium, folate are all co-factors to B12 and they all need to be in balance in order to produce healthy blood cells. I assume that my body had depleted my iron reserves trying to repair itself once I’d started B12 injections

My fluctuating energy levels still take a toll on my mental wellbeing and I can slide back into a low mood. But it’s not like it was when my iron level dropped so it may be worth ruling out other causes.

Sorry to hear you went through such a hard time too mentally 💛

I had an iron infusion a week and a half ago, but people say you only notice it's effects at ~6weeks in. So I am hopeful that I will slowly feel it.

My ferritin was borderline at 40, but another reading had it in the late 30s.

My private Dr said that i could get restless legs <50, so he gave me both b12 and sorted my iron.

I take 5mg folate with b12 eod si injection.

I take 4000iu d3 with k2 daily.

And I take magnesium on my non injection days (I just decided myself to do that part, and on injection days I sometimes use magnesium bath salts to help my muscles, as some of them are super rigid)

And I drink coconut water and ear 2 banas daily too, plus balanced diet.

I am also cutting out gluten entirely and lowering dairy, apart from kefir, and I do eat meat but I avoid spices or vinegars now, because my stomach is very sensitive.

Hopefully I will turn the corner soon.

I have been told or read that it can take months to turn the corner, even 6 months to a year for neuro symptoms. So I am thinking I am in it for the long haul too.

I am glad you got your iron sorted. Some folks find it hard to stomach iron supplements. Before I got the infusion I had this stuff by 'betteryou' it's a cheeks spray that absorbs through the membrane inside your mouth, and bypasses the stomach. It might be beneficial to you if your iron is still struggling. Also the best and most accurate indicator of iron stored is ferritin, make sure your gp checks your ferritin specifically. Because you could appear normal in other bloods but your ferritin could be low!

Did you get any muscle rigidity with low b12? Or in recovery? Wondering, because I am have a lot of tension. Being stressed doesn't help, also having a tonne of internal vibrations now. Injection 9 done today. 2 wks and 5 days in.
