That is no different really to many other countries
So where is the problem
Aside form al that
Lets say a patient comes in with 40 to 50% of B12D symptoms. . .. . Dont do a blood test . . . . . Save at least £30 with that but give them a B12 jab cost £2 for stuff hell even £4 cause sunak might have to be getting his share plus 15 minutes of nurses time lets say another tenner £10. . . . . Heck the GP could have done it quicker as they had the screen and all up and are every bit as able as any nurse . . . . Thats how my 1st Jab went . . . . GP . . . . . When I ask for more my GP gave me the 1st of the 3
So we have £4 plus a tenner . . . .£14 so we have saved £16 right away so can give the patient another £14 jab. . . . . . A further £56 quid will complete a course of loading and they will really know by the end of that. . . . . The cost of admin to refer to a consultant's would most likely be more than the whole programme so far
Zero change its not B12 . . . . Feeling loads better it is B12. . . . . We are eaxctly where we'd be had a consultant been involved andd at this point zero consultant costs . . . . . . Weird symptoms and feeling during loading phase continue but once a week while symptoms persist and we know the answer there anyhow once the patient settles down. . . . . . No more than 1 jab per week on the free no odds cause there will be those who want more. . . . . . Sorry guys . . . . I fit into that bracket too . . . . . . Anyone who requires more often than 3 monthly show how to DIY same as any other SI patient. . . . . . Job done. . . . . . From that point on the majority will cost no more than £2 per week. . . . . And that is not coming out of the GP Clinic budget. . . .. . . . Allow OTC B12 sales. . . . . . That one alone will save the GP's and service a fortune . . . . . .
My system here diagnosing me and many others I am learning saved the cost of mulitple years of antianxiety/antidepresants and a few other sundries for the cost of 4 injection per year. . . . . . Those 4 jabs will keep you alive if ye meed more its not dear. . . . . . Ye cannot be expecting a clinic to perform injections every week or twice a week for life when ye can DIY it
Now tell me they need more money for B12 . . . . . No they need less management trying to NOT treat patients . . . . .
There are endless pains in the ass sitting in the waiting rooms countrywide every Mon or Thurs or whatever using up way more monies than we will every use and the management cannot get rid of them. . . . . . Unless for those on benefits and OAP's but means tested of course charge every patient a token gesture amount per visit. . . . . That'll get a load of ass's off the waiting room chairs cause they are not all on the dole . . . . . The worst hypochondriacs I have ever known all had money yet expected their doctors to entertain them once a week for free because they are entitled . . . . . I knew one so well who was at the clinic near on ever week his wife was embarrassed to be taking him there. . . . He knew what was wrong with him most of which was self inflicted and no odds how poorly he felt there was nothing they could do for him but every week he'd manage to whittle another appointment . . . . . . That went on for 10 or more years and he was/is not alone . . . . .

I watch that UK GP programme and there are so many differnt doctors going in and out and everyone is sent to the nurse. . . . . False economy. . . . . NI clinics work like that too and ye could not get past some of the receptionists on the phone .. . . . Many Clinics here are still under family control so if there is any way of speeding things up rather than sending pillar to post they will do it. . . . The GP in question that gaev me my B12 is married on the bosses son . . . . . The boss having opened the place 52 years ago and she still appears from time to time if they are getting thing real tight or a GP has taken ill. . . . . If ye seen the woman. . . As straight as straight and ready for anything. . . . . .
I'm sat here waiting to picked up for a meal but whilst waiting thought I would reply....... In Bulgaria most of the Drs are in a square, together with consultants, nurses, xray and scanners ! You see the Dr then if you need a scan or to see a nurse it is all done in the same day.....plus you get the results all in a matter of a couple of hours. 👍
Here in the Uk be it cardiology or anything else you can wait months to be seen. 🤬 In the time it takes to be seen patients are deteriorating.
Sounds as if you have landed on your feet and getting a good service....... would your wife mind a lodger. 🤣
We have the basic GP clinic and behind that is another care place and up the road a maybe 100 meters there is a mental health center. . . . . All thanks to one woman who also practiced as a GP and reared an Irish family as well. . . . They dont call the receptionist's to get them things they rise up and fly up the corridor themselves. . . . It is still a "go getter place" like Mum started over 50 years ago. . . . . . Ye start with nothing ye arent spoiled brats. . . . . . I have told before about going to pulmanary and arriving at 12 for 12.30 appointemnt. . . . . My ass barely hit the chair until the blood nurse had me . . . . Then teh radiologst had me and another scan thing. . . . . . Then the junior doctpr, then after about 20 minutes the consultant . . . . Then off to the lab where they made me perform for the machines twice no less and back to consultant. . .Missed a bit . . . .More bllods to check if antibody count might be effecting my chest problems . . Then expert on the use of inhalers not just the current one but every type I might ever use . . . . . 6.30pm out the door . . . . . . That is service . . . . . No time wasted . . . . . They are only going to do the job once and every corner will be covered . . . . . . I go back July 12th and I hope I am better than I have been last year . . . . . Wifey and I could clearly see that those staff are way more productive than any we seen in NHS land without killing themselves in the process . . . . . Everyone of them work to each others hand. . . . . . Its the organising not the staff. . . . I am sure if ye over pressured staff and mismanaged them anywhere they will start to trail their heels. . . . .Mind wifey worked in Renal Unit for 17 years and Renal Units are productive so she would know what she is seeing as if I didnt see also. . . . .
Thats exactly how things should be done........hats off to them. 🎩👍
I waited over a year to be seen in gastrology......then waited months for a gastroscopy and colonoscopy both of which were done on months apart......then two scans once again months apart so that was a another 8 months wasted..........then the consiltant wrote with the results of errosive gastritis and crohns but there is something they cant identify ! He then sugested a capsule swollow to take a closer look and had the bloody cheek to say he will see me in two months ! I feel like screaming at him 'well firking arrange the capsule swollow and find out what it is' you stupid git.
He is probably sunning himself on a beach somewhere or earning mega money seeing private patients. 💰
I think they have to pay into a social health insurance........no waiting months on waiting lists over there..........
My daughter had a very nasty UTI infection and took herself off to the walkin centre where she sat in agony for 11 hours to be sent home and told to return the next morn ! All she needed was antibiotics. ( NHS )
My daughter inlaw in Bulgaria had a similar infection saw the Dr, sent for a scan on her kidneys, went back in to see the Gp for results and was medicated. This was all done in a couple of hours ! Now thats what you call a service.
Social health ins being a state back programe. . . . . . And yet if look up Bulgaria it is supposed to be poor haphazzard healthcare . . . . . Ye cannot believe what ye read . . . . . . if you ask our near neighbours in NI about Irish healthcare you will hear the biggest load of rubbish about 30 years out of date . . . . . .
I experienced similar treatment in Germany over 40 years ago. Went to a dr about frequent headaches. Same day appointment with X-ray, scan, blood tests and results that evening.
We were supposed to have polyclinics with similar services. What happened? All the money wasted, spent on the creation of a well heeled managerial class.
Here my gp tried once to make a hospital referral appointment for me during a consultation. The system crashed, she gave up and so I waited over six weeks for a letter to the hospital which was sent to ME in error. The surgery meanwhile argued that it hadn’t happened, but when I finally contacted the hospital they had no record of the referral, so the process began again. 🤯 The worst part is that no one could care less.
There have been programs on tv highlighting how waiting lists could be tackled by using operating theatres at weekends and around the clock. What does the government do? Restrict the no of places for medicine at uk universities and trawl poorer nations to poach their already qualified doctors and impoverish other countries’ health systems.
Short sighted, ignorant, hypocritical, , exploitative - the list is endless.
Geez Oldman I just couldn't get past the abysmal £160 per person. In US just Medicare is $12,500 annually per enrollee. That's like £9,800.Big difference. 🤯.
Ok after my shock wears off I'll properly read and digest the rest of your post.
I'll do this again. . . . . The £160 is what it costs our Gov NOT US DIRECTLY per patient per year. . . . . . Per patient per year . .. . . Our health care costs are covered in our various direct taxes. . . . . . . Everyone is covered. . . . .. GP clinic's across europe are all similar. . . . . No odds ye never see the GP or ye see them 100 times. . . . . . Just go ask google what the UK Gov pays GP per year per patient. . .. . . It is our clinic funded indirectly by us for us . .. .All of us and indeed you should you be here . . . . . . Should you work here.. . . . It is incomparable to the the US which is a complete rip off and I mena that in the strongest possible words. . . . . . . .The tories in the UK have been running their NHS down for years eyeing in up to sell and opt for a US style system . . . . . For years I used an inhaler . . . Clenil or Beclazone according to where I lived and here they were costing our HSE which is our health service around 8 euro when I was using them but costing a US citizen 94usd last time I looked it up. . . . .They didnt cost me anything eitehr here or in the UK. . . . . . In Ireland we have a couple of charges but they are token gestures and only if ye are middle earner upwards . . . . . . GP visit wil be between 60 to 80 euro. . . . . . Hospital stay will not be more than 860euro last time we looked and that is whatever ye got done whatever ye right up to brain surgery if needed. . . . Lower earners pay nothing. . . . . There is no need, no call fro medical anything to be as expensive as the US. . . . . it is making the uber rich super uber rich. . . . . Been there also lived in canada . . . . . Would not touch them with a barge pole
So in the Republic of Ireland they have a system of part payment for care? I’ve long thought we should have a mixed system here. It might stop the drive towards fully private care. The mantra that treatment should be free for everyone regardless just plays into the hands of those who want to abolish it, because it really doesn’t make sense nor is it necessary for many who could contribute something. I would willingly pay to see my gp, and then maybe I wouldn’t feel as I were being graced by their generosity in giving me a few minutes of their time. 😕
Yes bit of a mixed system. . . . . The people and hence the Gov cause the Gov has to follow what the people want albeit loosely want Slaintcare (care for all basically) but Irelands past was private care with heavy church involvement. . . . . Church involvement has been kicked into touch with the last vestige's of that being the land hospital's sit on which the Gov and people would rather replace elsewhere when the church is disagreeable. . . . .And they are at times. . . . . . Because there is.was private care they lobby so things go slowly but every year there is another move in the right direction, this last year it was that children get free extended until they 18. . . . .I think students also avail. . . . . It all keeps moving so its not easy to remember the last announcement but it going the right way. . . .. . I have taken elderly to their private hospitals and to be honest I would not pay starting from 60euro per month as it is not different . .. . . It is still not as expensive as the US . . . . The US has lost the plot and with an inward looking nation they are fixated on some kind of fairytale so live with it instead of doing as we'd do and go on strike. . . . . Anyhow .. . . . I dont know whether care for all will ever quite make it but it is close. . . . . . 70% of the population pay something directly out of pocket toward state healthcare albeit token gesture as above. . . .. I have written before that I do kinda like where we are here now having been in NHS land where all was free and a % of those were hypochondriac's that took up GP time. . . . . But free was not free as we couldnt avail of the services we required . . . . . LIving here and seeing how things work the best thing the NHS coudl do is introduce say a £20 or £30 GP charge for those on middle incomes upward . . . . Not to effect those who are already under pressure. . . . . . .. Many in the UK already pay into private insurance but play both systems as they did here not so long since. . . . . If they want to pay into private insurance then away ye go to your private system which ahs robbed so many doctors from the NHS .. . . . Here consultants dont work to both. . . . I wouldnt ever think to ask my Clinic to either perform or supply these Vit B's as I take several as this is basic nutrition in my eyes although supplied via a different route to the usual oral route . . . . . I dont crave and dont buy red meat anymore . . . As a matter of fact I dont like and havnt liked it in over 3 years maybe nearer 4. . . . . This was a life chaneg and not something considered or thought about until after the fact .. . . ...Someone else quoted eggs eggs earlier which family friend has a craving for now for several years but wont ask about b12. . . . Nobody believes ye about B12 it seems. . . . I had a craving for beef for decades and red meat is expensive 3 times per day. . . . . . . My little Vit B thing is pretty cheap besides all that meat and a lot healthier than all that beef . . . . .
Youtube is full of video's of US people who have lived in europe for a few years comparing the eu to the US. . . . . . Healthcare features highly with many all worrid about having no insurance if they get sick. . . .. There are even stories about "the boss" more less having to drag them to the hospital they were so convinced it was going to be a fortune when in fact t is free . . . . . It is not Freeloading. . . . . It is included in out system
