have I over done b12 injections?

I’ve had 3 b12 injections as levels have been a little low. Active b12 119 pmol. Normally have regular periods but now haven’t had one in 6 weeks.

Has anyone experienced this? What is the reasoning? Have had sore nipples for 2 weeks too. Not pregnant.

If anyone has experienced this. How long did periods take to come back?

I noticed you wrote this in another post:

----

"I’ve been having symptoms of low b12 so I got my levels checked. They are 119 pmol.

The lab where I got them taken says normal range is 25-170 so they said I am fine and in range but everywhere else states I am deficient and low.

I had a b12 injection and instantly felt better.

Where did you read that 119 pmol on an active B12 test is "deficient and low"?

There are two main B12 tests, the normal serum B12 test and active B12. They have very different ranges and test two different things. 119 would be low or low-normal (on most ranges) if it was a serum B12 test but not on an active B12 test so maybe you are confusing serum B12 ranges and active B12 ranges?

It is possible to have normal B12 levels and still be deficient but I wouldn't start down the B12 deficiency treatment rabbit hole unless you have symptoms that seem to match the condition.

Yes I didn’t realise it was active b12. So I thought i was deficient and wasn’t. Even though I have had a lot of anxiety which injections have helped with.

Panicked as I read a lot about optimal levels needed to be higher as I’m trying for a baby.

But now I’ve lost my periods!

I've not read on here periods stopping on b12 injections.

I've certainly read you can't 'overdose ' on B12.

Try not to panic.

Your sore nipples may be a symptom of PMT/ hormonal trying to get into gear for your next period.

Hopefully once more relaxed it will happen if your pregnany test was negative.

Hi Coolcat12345,

First and for most to answer your question have you over done the hydroxycobalamin. One of the ‘side effects’ would be bright yellow hint of green urine. It is water soluble so we excrete it out. So, please be reassured.

Out of curiosity, what made you suspect that you were B12 deficient in the first place ? So your symptoms which can include anxiety.

With regards to preparing for pregnancy, it is both the body and the mind. Having a more relaxed approach and nurturing yourself. It is an exceptionally special time for a woman. We want you to flourish. For you to understand and be attuned to your body. This particular cycle was missed. Just a mere blip, it happens.

Like Nackapan said sore nipples can be a sign you are gearing up for your next ovulation. Other simple indicators can be cervical mucus being similar to egg white.

Nature is beautiful, it requires patience and understanding. Allow it to flow more gently.

😘

I recently found out that my B12 was below 50. Which explains why I was not with it at all and in pain and fatigue. My periods had stopped thought it might be start of perimenopause but as soon as I’d had my 6th B12 injection started again. I had the same a couple of years back when my blood pressure went through the roof, a week or so after taking meds came back.

My cousin is a sports physio she said periods stopping are a sign that somethings not right in your body, so worth investigating?
