gpw61,

Many of us have brain fog, here we understand each other. Plus, typing you can edit. In person, if we spoke, you would have to be patient with me. Many words are the thingy, the wotsit, what’s her face, you know sang the song that goes dur, dur, dur.

Yea, Hydroxycobalamin or Methyl can make you feel worse at the beginning. It is the healing process. Think of a graze on your knee, it gets to a point when it is itchy and all you want to do is scratch the scab off.

With P.A./B12D we can experience sensations of burning, throbbing, static, feeling like insects are under the skin (medical speak : formication).

Keep a symptoms tracker, each of us have individual signs and symptoms. Plus, have low levels of co-factors - other Vitamins (vital amines) and minerals.

Welcome here. If you have not already, please consider the Pernicious Anaemia Society.

All the best.

I have corrected post for you. As helvella said in reply to seond post (which I am going to remove) you can edit your posts. It is an option under the more section/button in the bar of options just under your post.

Hi Gpw

Hang in there as believe it or not these are all good signs!

I felt like I had been beaten with a baseball bat - I ached and was sore everywhere, and a headache like I had been to a weeklong festival!

Keep in touch with us for reassurance.

very normal…even if super unpleasant. Like many others here, I encourage you to make sure you have sufficient potassium, magnesium, and folate. Also…for me, intense leg pains I got a few weeks into treatment was caused by an emergence of an iron deficieny…so please try to check your ferritin. It took me a few months (with needless suffering), before I tested that and subsequently fixed the problem.

I agree with Wwwdot. It is like being pummeled.

I have gone through this when I increase my dose and or frequency. With methylcobalamin the immediate results were more severe and over time more effective.

Yes it's normal - according to Dr Chandy about 10% of us get it! I think it's called reversing out syndrome. I found it reasonably unbearable so started injecting every day to get to the other side as fast as possible! My feet were so hot, I thought they were on fire! The good news is that it's the nerves healing and the brain doesn't know how to translate these new messages, so goes for pain! I had weird shooting pains in my head too. All kinds of weird stuff wherever the nerves etc start working again. It helps to know that others have it and you're not going crackers!
