Hi I’ve been on b12 injections every 3 months for the past 2 years. I recently had my injection Tuesday. However all week and still now the bones in my legs are aching/cramping. I feel like my legs are weak and fatigued as if they can’t carry me, has anyone else experienced this? Could it just be a symptom of the b12 in my body running low and could the symptom go as my b12 starts to kick in?
Aching bones : Hi I’ve been on b1... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Aching bones
I didn’t start improving until I started self-injecting on a daily basis in addition to taking 5mg folic acid. You’ll be hard pressed to find a knowledgeable physician. Best to treat your self.
I am the same was saying to my husband for over 3 injections now I have had no relief
Had my bloods done my iron is very low
Had a lit of sickness so had the camera down on Tues showing redness in the lining of my stomach so being investigated evidently the two marry together so the doctor says
So will so what the specialist says
Hope you get some answers
Have you had your VitD tested ?
Thank you Marz - that was just what I was going to suggest!
I think it would be also be good to get your folate levels checked as low folate can cause joint pain, and also potassium and magnesium for nerve and musle function.
Once you have had your blood test it would be good to Google these to see what good sources of these you would like to eat and drink and see if enriching your diet helps. It can be surprisingly effective.
All these are affected by and involved with calcium so it would be good to know your calcium status too.
Because the processes of cell replication, nerve function and energy release that use B12 need lots of other things to work properly, if you are short of something it may be affecting the effectiveness of your B12 jab too so you may find you could benefit from a daily broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement. The supermarket A-Z ones are as good as, if not better than, most of the expensive branded ones.
Good for asking - if something changes there's a reason for it as symptoms are your body's way of telling you that something is wrong.
I hope you find and fix the problem soon!
Our health is like a Savings Account - take care of the pennies and the pounds take care of themselves Now I really do sound like a Grumpy Grandma !!
Have you had your vit d levels checked? It seems to be quite common to have a deficiency in this along with b12. Might be worth getting your ferritin levels checked too. Do you know what your folate levels were when you were first diagnosed, as need this for the b12 to work properly.
I would get a blood test, but might be worth you also taking a good multi vitamin tablet. Lots of people also take a b complex and magnesium (try the salts in your bath or they do a spray you rub into your skin).
Yes they are fine, I also had a full blood count last week and some other bloods tested, everything came back fine, I’m sure I remember my go testing those too and everything has came back within normal range, x
I've had that the day after an injection . I thrn feel mUch stronger afterwards. My test is how my legs fair ealing around the block. Some days I have to turn back ! Or not even attempt it. So yes it could be what you think. I've been taking lots of supplements getting bloods done ti check levels. Eating and drinking lots of water. Sometimes there seems no rhyme or reason for sudden weakness. Sometimes I donthink think I can get up the stairs but do?? Horrible feeling . I've found I've become quite exercise intolerant. I used to walk and cycle daily. Go for a swim. I'm hoping to ride my bike again one day or swim. It's an odd thing. You have been dealing with it alot longer than me so I hope you back on track soon.
Low Vitamin D causes bone pain if you haven’t had it checked. Even within range can cause bone pain so you need to supplement if you don’t get much sun.
In Uk in most cases people don’t get enough sun so it could be the cause.
If you’re low B12 symptoms are not improving then you need more frequent injections and your Folate and Ferritin levels should be in good range.
