I consider topping off to be a medicial breakthrough in the treatment of Cobalamin Cellular Inactivity. The fact that the medicial community has yet to bless it has no importance to me. The reduction of suffering is what is important to me and is not the prominent focus of the medicial field.
When I first read about topping off here I in my ignorance and arrogance thought these people clearly to do not understand all one has to do it follow the EOD methodology and wait and they will get better. The topping off is all in their heads.
It seems to me that my cobalamin cellular activity improves as I become more active with the supplements in my body. In effect I can use up my supplements faster and less is excreted which is healing. It does not follow I should decrease the frequency or amount.
I have taken to walking 5K on Saturdays. The rapid improvement in endurance cannot be reasonably attributed to the base of knowledge about exercise.
I have discovered that it is very important to bookend my walks with injections. Immediately prior to exertion and one right after. This seems to improve my cobalamin uptake.
Pretty much the amount of my injections is only important in relation to my cellular function which is unkown and symptoms the only measure.

Some people decide on a regiment of injecting, be it, following a GP's advice, following an established protocol or designing their own based on what they accept as successful.
Some people inject more than their regiment requires daily in anticipation of higher activity or after higher activity and often describe it as going to or having used up their B12.
They often refer to this as topping up. I assume indicating they top up their established daily amount of B12.
It may be a UK thing and I from the USA use topping up and some use topping off.
Although I considered it a medicial breakthrough in treating B12 deficiency and reducing suffering it is not yet and may never be established by researchers and doubtful physicians ever will.
I do not use topping off or up rather increase the frequency and amount I inject.
I agree with you and for me it’s the frequency that’s important combined with the level of activity between doses.
I also top up when needed but now I am taking three types of B12 every day I seem to have a more even flow of energy … that’s not to say that I sometimes over do it and pay the price.
