I am looking for recommendations for tolerable pain relief for hip bursitis please? So far I have only tried buprenorohine patches that did not help and turned me into a zombie overnight …couldn't stay awake and severe nausea !

Any experiences to share please I have atrophic gastritis ?

thanks

As someone who finds most painkillers have unacceptable side effects I have experimented and find magnesium offers some relief. That being said my pain is only ever mild and you may need something stronger.

The following link explains the mechanism of how magnesium can help with pain.

I’m also using ice packs please let me know what your GP says !

I have been layed low with similar issues in my hips but mainly my knees. It is absolute agony to say the least.

I was also prescribed the patches that do little for the pain but send you top sleep. I have tried all sorts but at present taking flaring capsules for joint pain and also resorting to ice packs. I am speaking to the Dr tomorrow so will see what he recommends. Even when resting I am getting little restpite from the pain.

Poor you this isn't funny. 😢 🤗

I have suffered with Trochanter Bursitis on several occasions. My go to treatment is Osmo Patches - from Australia. They draw out the inflammation overnight. All well described on their website. Can be used on other joints too.

Caster Oil is also anti-inflammatory and again I have had good experiences - massaging in before bed.

VitD level is good around 100+ and again is anti-inflammatory. Are you taking some ?

Many thanks Marz I have been taking Vit D + calcium supplement for years as I have three AI Diseases I will surely try the caster oil massage .

Was reading your bio about Crete sounded idyllic ..I lost my dog in May x

⁹Sorry to read about your dog - so sad. We miss Demelza every day.

I have read that when taking VitD your calcium uptake from food is enhanced naturally so rarely a need for more. Too much calcium can lodge in soft tissue including the arterial system ?? If you are taking it for bone health - then I would research an appropriate magnesium supplement instead.

Taking VitK2-MK7 helps to direct calcium to bones and teeth when taking larger doses of VitD. How much D do you take ?

Did you look at Osmo Patches ?

I have a cupboard full of supplements that I have tried and failed so i’m a little loathe to try any more that I can’t buy in UK at the moment

Long term steroids have given me osteoporosis hence the Vit D and calcium

I have Addisons disease an under active thyroid and pernicious anemia with atrophic gastritis

Calcium involved with osteoclasts and not the building of bone cells called osteoblasts. I know it's a lot to get your head around !

Hi Davina

I know from experience how painful hip bursitis is, it’s grim. I have several forms of arthritis and although it’s pretty well controlled, things like a bursa are sent to try me. I went to an osteopath and felt much better after about five sessions. Heat and cold compresses helped too. I hope it clears soon.

I have not seen an osteopath that’s next on my to do list thank you.

Thanks do you have atrophic gastritis please I don’t see it mentioned in your bio ?

I’m trying to avoid anything that might irritate my stomach or cause a reaction like the patches did !

Hi I have not been formally diagnosed with any stomach problems, however I have do have symptoms of low stomach acid, abdominal discomfort and bloating. Going gluten free did help.

The LDN trust are really helpful so if you have any questions or worries just send them a message and they will get back to you. They also have some videos on YouTube if you are interested.

I have never experienced any side effects since starting LDN several months ago. You start on a low dose initially. It has helped with inflammation reducing my CRP and various aches and pains.

Good Luck

Hi Davina, my daughter has this. She saw quite a lot of medics and eventually, had a steroid injection, which is risky. She didn't have the nasty side effect but a lot of muscle wastage as a result. One of the specialists she has seen since says the answer is a much higher dose of pain-relief than GPs prescribe and that's what she takes now if she has a flare up. It will be either Ibuprofen or Paracetamol, or both, I can't remember which is anti-inflammatory and which pain relief. Hope that's of some help.

Many thanks for your reply my stomach can not tolerate anti inflammatory medications that’s my issue hence the question about alternative painkillers.

I think that both Diclofenac and Ibruprofen, when applied to the skin, do actually to a considerable extent get distributed through your body. Hence provide a route mostly avoiding the stomach.

This might not help much - I know Ibruprofen gel caused stomach discomfort for me after using for a while! But could be worth considering.

Many thanks I did try diclofenac will experiment again with ibuprofen gel
