Efudix cream

A bit off topic but I've been given Efudix Cream for pre cancerous skin things called actinic keratosis, GP told me it was "a bit of Dermatitis" Mmmm...... I knew it wasn't so went privately to see Dermatologist. It's a Chemotherapy cream and it basically kills off any sun damaged skin and it's very effective but you look like your face is falling off. I was wondering if anyone else on here has used it and if it affected PA at all. I self inject weekly but wondered if I should up it as on this cream for a month. Any feedback welcome. I look like Deadpool without the mask!!

My husband had this treatment for a keratosis on his face. The leaflet they give you shows an extreme reaction. My husband had no bad effects and the treatment was very effective - there isn’t even a scar there now. He doesn’t have PA though. If it had been me I would have considered more frequent jabs, because fighting illness definitely uses up the B12 faster. Good luck with it.

I have had it twice to use for a Bowen's disease area on my leg. The first one, I had dug out, and this was to get rid of anything left. The second one was in the same place, and I was given that to try first. It had absolutely no effect on me at all. No redness, no inflammation. GP spent time looking up 'has no effect', but couldn't find anything, so they cut that one out aswell. I don't have PA, but it is a very widely used for things that might turn malignant, but may well not.

Hi, I’ve used this cream, whilst your skin looks terrible for a while, you heal quite quickly.

I did not have any side affects as a result of PA and did not need to increase B12 injections.

In the mid 80s I used it for a month on my face and did get some scarring. When my dad used it in the 90s he said it worked when he used it for just 2 weeks. I usually find that works for me nowadays.

My present dermatologist says 2 weeks, not more. But it probably depends on your lesions and skin type.

I don't increase my B12 dose during this treatment.
