I use a B D Safe Clip available on Amazon for insulin needles. I snap the needle off and throw the rest in the normal trash.
I used to keep all the items used for injecting to be able to prove I was not using controlled substances. It is illegal to import B12 for injecting in the USA, it is not currently being prosecuted. The risk of not being able to prove I am not a drug user is one I got used to taking and now accept that risk.

A very timely post. I had no idea that was the case in the USA. It must be scary. How do you get your B12 for injection then?
I was wondering how I would go about visiting the USA and how immigration would handle all my injections and kit. I best research as from what you say it could be a real issue.
Do not worry i fly regularly to the US with tens of boxes and 100s of needles/syringes. I once took 60 boxes to bring my relatives some stock. Customs only cares about bringing fruit/veg, animal products, and money into the country.
Likewise people order from Germany & Canada all the time. I think there used to be problems in the past, but everything seems to get through now. Fingers crossed knock on wood hope i didn't just jinx it.
Although the same agency the customs for private air travel are not the same for importing for business. When using the mail is when I run into issues.
I have had no issues with traveling with food supplements for my own use. The law is a 30 day supply but no problem with the particular customs agents I have come across to date.
I use different suppliers and do talk to some of the smaller ones on the phone as they know when there is likely to be a shortage or regulatory problem on the horizon.
There is a form called pre-approved Federal and Drug association that the consignee is responsible for filing that sometimes holds up a shipment.
Sometimes the shipment might be cleared through one shipping depot and get held up in another.
I have eventually been able to get all my shipments with some work. It has happened often that a supplier will say they cannot ship and no reason is given. Not in their best interest to complain about regulators.
It is helpful to understand the problem is not likely to be the company shpping or the carrier.
People tend to believe that food supplements are not regulated as they are not controlled substances. In the USA the FDA regulates everything consumed my mouth.
Sublingual products are not regulated with the same regulations requirements as products consumed.
I am not one to scapegoat regulators as I know of the difficulty of their task.
That is unfortunate to hear - I do remember people on the facebook group (many US people) also reporting problems when ordering from Canada. Indeed because of customs, not the carrier or the company. But I thought that was better now - I'm sorry to hear it's not.
I've often ordered from Germany to the US, and knock on wood, never had problems to date. I've ordered some Oxford Bio from the UK for the first time this week, so I hope that will go through without problems!
Oops, I didn't write the main reason for posting. I like the click of cutting off the end of the needle as it means I am done the injection. It's good for my head.
