Good morning. I have been injecting in upper outer leg because of problems with reaction on tummy. No reaction on leg but difficult because of my shoulder problems. Does anyone inject front on thigh? I use small yellow(13mm) needle. Any advice please? Thanks

Hi smg150

The reason we inject into the upper, outer thigh is due to our anatomy. This is a massive subject in itself.

Health professionals are taught of the muscles, nerves and blood vessels throughout the body. It takes a very long time to learn the intricate systems of the human body.

So, trust me, inject in the outer thigh.

Not a doctor. 😉

Hello smg, I use a yellow 13mm needle for subcutaneous injections in the tummy mainly/prefered. However, I have recently started using my front of thigh as I s.i. every day and need to rotate. Here is link showing best places to inject subcutaneously. .

This reference takes you to an American PA support group. They also tell you that you can buy Methylcobalamin jabs from Oxford Biosciences Ltd England. Very expensive!

Does this mean that manufacturers/ pharmacies cannot sell us injectable B12 here,in UK without prescription ,but can sell it without prescription, abroad?

Bit cheeky.

They can sell it as a 'beauty treatment' but not for health needs.

I had forgotten about that. It's a crazy situation, people are being conned. I am no more beautiful after several yrs of jabbing 😂😂😂😂

most of the time no it doesn't hurt, especially as its such a small needle. Occasionally, with the needle on the skin I feel a sharp prick so I know im over a nerve, move the needle a little bit and its ok as usual.

Thank you I’ll think about that for next time and hopefully won’t be itchy

ive previosly read that itchy injection site is not unusual. One post, can't remember who, had irritation and they found putting tissue over site between clothing helped.

I inject in the front of my thigh. pinch and inch of skin and inject there. Helps that I have flabby thighs though!

I always understood to inject in the middle of outer thigh -vastus lateralis - because of lower chance of hitting blood vessels.
