Beginner1 used to post photos of flowers to us in summer. So I thought I'd send this to all those on the forum who need cheering up this rainy summer; a new painting I'm doing. Kew in April -the first of the waterlily flowers.

So beautiful! Thanks for sharing and honoring beginner1 ❤️🌺

Thank you for sharing this; it's beautiful ❤️ It actually makes me feel a little cooler, since I'm "cooking" here in the US ☀️🌞😀

And here's me worried that my grapes and tomatoes won't ripen, just rot off their branches ! Then it's just about getting there before the squirrels.

Keep as cool as you can and thanks.

Beautiful! I opened this message with happy anticipation as I loved the waterlilies at Kew and probably remember them best of all!

Thank you for the tribute to the wonderful Beginner1.

Miss her flowers, her stories about her life, her sense of humour and her scathing cartoons !

Glad you like it, Denise.

Beautiful Cherylclaire,

Thank you. You are very talented.

I have no problem with the rain at all. I had a dog so you have to go out all weathers.

I once told a white lie to my boss because I was late. It was the first time, I had seen him in the snow. He loved it so much. So, we played 10 minutes extra.

🙂 ❤️

10 minutes better spent !

I can still see my two dogs' faces when they ran out of the back door one morning and straight into snow for the first time ..... is "wonderment" a word ?

Yay for aminals (my own word for animals). Yep, wonderment is a word as is confusement. 😂

One of my favourites is instead of calling balsamic vinegar, I call it BalSonic vinegar. It’s after the game Sonic the Hedgehog. 😜

Same here with cats seeing it for the first time and different reactions. .One absolutely loved it .

Pouncing, burrowing ,rolling where possible.

A joy to watch.

An other moving so quickly as didn't like getting her paws wet and washing it off . Then stared at it all from a warm window sill .

Glad that day wasn't a paid work day.!

Lovely detailing on the leaves but where are the 🐸 🐸 🐸 🐸s ? 🤣

I was going to post a pic of my mallow flower's but the rain has destroyed them this year. 🙁 Bigginer1 is sadly missed but I can remember her postings of flowers. 🌺 ❤

It's nice to see something uplifting be it a pic, painting or a bit of needle craft.

Thanks for posting your artwork it's nice to see. 🎨 👀

The lilypads get much bigger, but the first flowerings are a lovely surprise.

I know Kew work their gardens in a natural way, but was stumped by what I once saw in this house - so I asked the nearest gardener.

"Can you tell me the purpose of those dried-out used teabags, hanging on the framework all around the lilypond ?"

He laughed: "They aren't teabags - they are chyrysalises !"

Doh.

And I thought you were going to tell me the fish and frogs were partial to a cup of tea. 🐸🫖☕

I do miss her and the flowers, so this was lovely to see, and you are very talented, that is beautifully done - real watery depth. Thank you! (Seen our first bit of blue in ages today, so washing is out, but already clouding over.....)

Keep hoping. Maybe next week....

Despite the miserable summer, the blackberries are delicious. The pomegranates ? Well, they're flowering - and that's probably more than you'd expect. We've even had some cucumbers - although most got hollowed out by snails before we could pick them.

I've had a few blackberries and have to agree. Pomegranate flowers are really lovely, I have them on my curtains! The long dry spring seemed to mean less slugs as my hostas are un-holey for the first time ever, probably too tough now for chewing. Fingers crossed for a bit of late summer.

Badgers strip all sweetcorn crops !!

Cucumbers 🥒 big but bitter skins .

Thanks to all who remember Beginner 1 ( and then 2) . Rosemarie was a one-off . We met on this forum and found that we only lived 1/2 mile from eachother . We met regularly after that . Her cartoons brightened our day so often and also her flower photos . She lives on in our memories . I hope she knows how much she was appreciated . …. …

Remember the one with the woman with a ton of syringes stuck in her legs, Wedgewood ?

Think it was called "one for the ladies" - fantastic.

LOL I'm trying to recall that one. I think she had various Dr NO ones and several with (welsh?) sheep but I can't quite remember the punchline 🤣🤣
