Question about B12 injections with MTHFR mutations

Hello all,A quick question from a newbie to the forum :

Do b12 injections need to be in the methylcobalamin form for them to work if you have the MTHFR and related gene mutations?

Or is this not necessary?

No. MTHFR variants relate to the metabolism of folate, not B12. There is also no significant effect on folate except if you had an extremely rare variant, something which would be noticed via blood folate tests and resolved via adequate folate supplementation.

Oh wow I cant believe I didn't realise this. My daughter and I always test high for folate. I haven't been able to work out why but I'm guessing it's relating to my (known) mthfr variants and hers as yet untested.

I have a MTHFR mutation and have been taking Hydroxocobalamin just fine. I have taken Cyanocobalamin in the past but didn't feel it helped although the doc that prescribed me that gave also gave me much less injections.
