Overnight drop of mood and sudden fatigue

Does anyone experience a sudden drop in mood work accompanying sudden fatigue? Im still working with my GP to get the regime correct and working. I did the onboarding objective and was told it would then be 12 weeks going forward. They had just checked my bloods again 4 weeks after the onboarding and my levels had already dropped by 67%. I was asked about symptoms and doc agreed that as I was experiencing symptoms at 5 weeks I wouldn't be made to wait until 12 weeks for a top up. I struggled to get to 8 weeks. About 5 weeks in I felt a black veil dropping over me that I was powerless to stop or improve. It was awful. I'm now 4 weeks post last injection and yesterday I could feel the drop again. And today the fatigue is awful.

If anyone experiences that do they have tips on managing it as it doesn't respond to antidepressants or usual mental health invention

You may need more b12 injections 💉

I'm on a 2 weekly NHS prescription.

I lasted 5 weeks after loading and was very ill again..

I was put back on every other day until no further improvements.

It's in the guidelines the Gps have .

My aim at the time was to have monthly .

Then my aim was to get better whatever regime i needed. !!

Tried sublingual b12 tablets inbetwwen

B12 injections . Gp monitoring me.

It never happened.

Tablets and sublingual were not enough even between 3 weekly injections.

I don't think they did anything

Have had 2 weekly now injections challenged alot by nurses and g.ps.

Bought some during lockdown.

Last 2 years had weekly

41/2 yesrs in . Still improving .

I felt exactly the same and as your's dr has done mine also prescribed 2 monthly injections. After a couple of weeks my symptoms returned together with the low mood hence my deciding to SI. I have found the need for daily injections or my health seriously declines.

I took the ball into my own court and decided to self inject rather than to be left to suffer.

Hi BkrJo

I experienced same as you and I did as Jillymo (and many others) I self inject and I need to every day.

Low mood and feelings of anxiety are my classic tell tales of I need more B12. Cheaper and safer than antidepressants!!

I do hope you find your solution. Thinking of you 🤗🤗🤗🤗

I'd agree completely with Nackapan and Jillymo 's posts, but the only thing I'd add is to ensure your other levels of vitamins and iron are optimal too. You've clearly found a link with the frequency of your B12, but other things such as Folate and Iron levels can also have a big impact on mood. Good luck!

hi BkrJo

Assume you are PA?

3 months simply does not work. I’ve tried everything before SI regime. And this group advised exactly what I need to do.

I fought for monthly GP injections. And top up SI in between.

It’s so obvious when you’re through the dark tunnel - if you are PA then injections based on symptoms work.

Recently I’m on complex B12 and I think helps Balance.

Regards.

Hi yes. Recently diagnosed PA. Trying to work out how to deal with all of it but already figured I'd have to fight re frequency of injections. Got to wait for some more blood tests re checking frequency again down from 8 weekly

I’m not sure how blood tests help the routine. Good check points but as you’re PA you have to try and manage it on symptoms. In a way at least you know it’s PA and you can try to treat it.

I know exactly what you mean by the black veil and fatigue. Have experienced it most of my life and what is particularly distressing is that it descends out of the blue and I find it’s worse in summer. I liken it to looking out on a sunny day through a dark filter.

B12 injections are the only thing that help and I agree that you obviously need them more frequently. Return of depression and illogical thoughts is how I know I need to inject. Antidepressants do nothing for it, I feel they are only useful for the short term. In fact many years ago in my twenties my gp was reluctant to prescribe them at all and then only for two weeks at a time. How times change!

I hope you have an understanding doctor.
