Guanfacine and N-acetylcysteine (NAC-600 mg)

I recently posted a link to an article that talked about treating brain fog with a combination of Guanfacine, a prescription drug used for treating high blood pressure, and N-acetylcysteine (NAC-600 mg), which I gather is an over-the-counter supplement.

Has anyone here had any experience with either of these?

I have used NAC (2x 600mg) with Serine (2 x 500mg) to support Glutathione during bad infections, such as when I had COVID. Although I have no control to compare against, I felt like it helped and recovery was fairly quick (e.g. no long COVID). Was not taking it for brain fog but cant say I noticed an effect.

Have not used Guanfacine. I have tried Qualia Focus, Alpha-GPC/CDP-Choline, or Bacopa Monnieri/Rhodiola Rosea for brain fog and although they are not an everyday use thing, I sometimes find them helpful.

I read the same article and have also been taking NAC. It does seem to help. Though who knows? Also glutathione lately. Among my stack of other hopeful pills. No idea about Guanfacin, as it’s prescription drug. Which I try to avoid.

Directly taking Glutathione seems to be useless (its broken down before it can be absorbed), or harmful/dangerous in the case of liposomal supplements. The reasoning behind NAC + Serine supplementation is to indirectly support Glutathione production. This video covers it pretty well.

I have to say its not that common, I only found it sold in a couple of places and can be expensive :(

sounds like glycine will do the job too?

Thanks for heads up on glutathione. It wasn’t lipsomal. I shall desist anyway.

Got any smart ideas on thyroid support for those of us with autoimmunity? I’ve just discovered some glandulars have riboneucleotides added, which earlier threads on this channel state are not good for us.

do you mean phosphatidyl serine?

Glycine works slightly differently. In the metabolic activators trial they mentioned some reason they chose Serine instead of Glycine but I dont recall the exact detail now of why - in theory Glycine should work as well.

Phosphatidylserine is different, and easier to find too. It has some interesting research on it and worth looking into as a supplement for nerve repair. (100mg-300mg a day).

I'm sorry I've no experience with Thyroid issues but there are many others here who can help with that I think.

Technoid says glutathione not a good idea. Not sure if you’ve seen that thread?
