fourth day of daily injection after three weeks of sporadic injections when I could find it. I know it’s early but I feel worse than before I knew I was even low on b12. J heard this is start up symptoms and beginning injections is tough. Anyone have advice on being positive or not letting your mind be your worst enemy
struggling to be positive : fourth day... - Pernicious Anaemi...
struggling to be positive

I got alot worse before better. To keep my sanity i imagined all the nerves trying to charge up causing me pain. Neurons connecting .
Nerves grow back very slowly.
Bit like a computer rebooting but it's your nervous system.
I felt like I was shutting down.
The process as very difficult but it paid off eventually.
At time's I felt as though I was being poisoned .
Gp nearly stopped the loading doses as the nurse doing them reported my responses .
Relieved when the loading doses were over thinking that would be it.
I never made the expected 3 month gap.
After 5 weeks went back to every other day prescribed b12 injections .
Depending on your symptoms
.How long deficient .
It's a different road for everyone.
Make sure folate ,iron ,vit D ,ferritin 'in range'
Also other things ruled out.
I hope you get benefits very soon.
Kept a diary as they can be subtle .
Some get better very quickly.
Then to gind what you maintenence programme is.
Have you got a reason for b12 deficiency?
PA
Dietary
Medications
Other medical conditiin?
diagnosed with PA. My folate is at 10 and I’m range bht not enough for injections. My d was in normal range but lower end and I do not know iron and ferretin.
Surly if diagnosed with PA, b12 injections are prescribed ?
I would get a copy of yout last blood results.
Keep the PA diagnosis on paper.
It's usually every other day b12 injections until no more improvement in the UK for neurological symptoms
In other countries every week.
Early days for you .
How bad are your symptoms 😕?
You may find tr above less overwhelming??

Hang in there and like Nackpan said increased pain and discomfort is because of healing.
I would try every other day to allow a steady recovery and give your body some respite between bouts of healing. Are you able to rest or do you have to work? If you have to work then decide when best to inject to give you best performance at work At first I got very tired after an injection so I did them at night but now I am not tired after an injection so I do them before an activity such as work or shopping.
I also found keeping a journal of symptoms, doses and supplements and little wins/setbacks invaluable to adjust my own treatment to suit my body for example it was reading my journal I realised that when I injected was a factor to how I coped with things
When I am low and feeling my recovery is not happening I read it and realise how far I have come in such a relatively short time.
Best of luck you sound like you are going in the right direction
Dear Asb2,
I have been doing daily injections for the past 6 weeks (advised by my doc) and it was rough… I was so poorly the first 3 weeks and it was very hard mentally. But persevere because u do start to see results. As the people above have mentioned, I kept a symptom diary and this helped me stay focused on what was working. Take all the cofactors… try to be as patient as u can. I know how hard it is. But the b12 will help u. Someone on a forum said that it (probably) took years to become b12 deficient and u need to be patient with your body as it starts to heal. Things do improve - but at a different rate for everyone.
