After all my struggles to get b12 every two weeks I have another problem. Both my upper arms are so painful most of the time from having the injections. I cant possibly mention this to the nurse as I may have the injections withdrawn (they punish quickly and severely at my gp practice!) I did once ask if I could have the b12 in my bottom, but she crossly replied she wasn't trained to do that. any ideas?

Hi,
I wonder if they would consider doing it in thighs?
Do you bruise when you have the injections? I wonder if it's their injection technique that's an issue? I once yelped loudly when having a B12 jab years ago as it was rammed in, did wonder afterwards if nurse had taken a dislike to me.....
Never had a repeat of that experience though.
Are you a PAS member? Perhaps might be worth talking to them?

Ouch! jillc39 Is your nurse taking the vial out of the refrigerator?
Where in the arm is she injecting?
I've had over 600 B12 injections during the past 46 years and have only said "Ouch" half a dozen times - if that. Perhaps I've been lucky with a succession of nurses who have always injected into the muscle slightly behind my arm.
I hope you find a solution.
I self inject into my thighs . They present a much larger injection area than the arms . Of course it’s more of a caper to present a thigh for injection , so the surgery wouldn’t like the extra time it takes maybe . But you could ask .
I use a 25 gauge needle for injection and it’s honestly painless . I also take plenty of time over it , which the surgery doesn’t have . If it becomes terrible issue for you , would you consider self -injection ? If you buy in bulk -100 of everything you need , an injection costs about £1.00 .
I already a member of PAS ... thanks for these comments . I will ask if it could be in my thigh. Its just that I am afraid of rocking the boat with a moan.
The loading injections from the nurse (subcutaneously) in my arms were the most painful i’ve ever had. I now self inject slowly into my stomach and warm the ampoule beforehand. It’s painless. Maybe you could suggest they warm it first.
