Hey guys I did my first SI the other day and I'm a bit worried as where I did it is a red circle and it's itchy ?? I wonder if I messed it up what could have gone wrong?? I have such bad health anxiety eee - I hope I just irritated it? Perhaps it didn't reach the muscle and went into fat - perhaps I need a longer needle. Any advice please? Also I am taking a flight today and am spinning out that there's an air bubble that will cause issues in the air eee wtf

If it went only into the fat it's an subcutaneous injection which is fine.If you've had IM before at the doctors has this happened?

Sometimes can look pink under the skin for a while.

Sometimes bruise.

Just wash with plain warm water and massage gently .

The itching may be from antiseptic wipe or just where the needle went in?

A doctor used a blue needle 23G 1" long on my upper arm yesterday.

It did not hurt.

Always wary a Gp out of practice.

Some use a purple 25 or 26G 1-1.5 long

Subcutaneous 27G - 30 G 1/2" long to 3/4" long.

Depending on your size.

Lots of info online

Also many draw up the b12 with one needle and change it to inject .

I do that as if you touch the inside of the ampoule drawing uo it doesn't matter then.

As touching the glass will blunt the needle.

Hey, thanks for replying, i did look online and a common side effect is a little soreness and itchy around the site of injection which put my mind at ease. I am heavily tattooed so have never been able to see any redness in the past and also only had 1ml previously but in the thigh i gave 2ml which is safe but also i can see the skin there as no tattoo. I used 23- 1.1/4 " for the injection and drew up with 21 -1". I think its okay and im just over reacting because i did it myself haha

I always get a red/ pink patch where I have injected sub cutaneously. Some times it is a bit sore.
