apologies for strange question !

hi lovely people

Hope you don’t mind me posting again but you’re always so helpful … I still have elevated B12 (have done for 3 years ) and Gp said no idea why and haematologist also just scratched head .

My strange question is .. is it worth me trying a B supplement to see if it helps my symptoms? Maybe this is a “False high” ? MMA was normal though .

I have waking headaches, burning feet and horrible fatigue .Sorry for sounding desperate but you know how it is 😔. Iron was on low side (haematologists words ) so I’ve started taking spa tone .

thanks so much for reading 😊xx

I've not much to add that wasn't already said in previous thread few months ago: healthunlocked.com/pasoc/po...

I had a very elevated B12 but had all the symptoms of deficiency. My doctor did some blood work at a special lab that determined the B12 wasn’t getting into my cells. We did nothing about it then. Fast forward about 10 years…my MMA was 2.5 higher than range as was my homocysteine, but my serum B12 was 112. After a few injections my MMA and homocysteine were near normal. Maybe you are deficient but it isn’t quite showing in these tests yet. My B12 was well over 1000 at the time and no doctor understood what it meant; even with clinical symptoms. I know I have written this story a lot, but it is a good example of misleading high B12 (without supplements) and B12 deficiency.

Hi,

Have your doctors tested your liver and kidney function and have you had a full blood count (FBC)?

A test for homocysteine may be helpful.

FBC showed lymphopenia and mild anaemia . Liver function normal . Kidney wise they’ve tested potassium and sodium again normal .

Thank you for the link about MMA and I’ll research homocysteine 👍

Did you have tests for creatinine, GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate),albumin?

There are other tests for kidney function as well.

I think lymphopenia means lower than normal lymphocytes in the blood but please check.

What does your GP think is causing the lymphopenia?

One potential cause is an infection in the body but there are other possible causes.

Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell.

B12 deficiency can lead to lower than normal numbers of particular types of blood cells (cytopenia).

I'm not medically trained.

why not try supplements and see if it helps?
