I had chronic insomnia for months when I started treatment. I found the insights from Daniel at the Sleep Coach School finally pulled things around for me. That and reducing folic acid as I was on about 700mcg a day for months and thathigh a dosage wasnt needed for me for that long as I have no absorption problems and very high folate diet.
Are you having your b12 injections in the morning
I found pm ones woukd keep me awake .
Also i had bad headaches and tinnitus started and a ramp up of symptoms before improvement started.
hope it improves soon for you
When I first started with B12 injections I would have insomnia for the first couple of nights after the shot. I was also going through menopause which also negatively effected my sleep so I wasn't sure what was causing my sleepless nights. I tried everything, through trial and error I found the following things helpful:
- Magnesium/Calcium supplements taken at night. I needed both, not just one of these minerals. I take a capsule that contains both of them.
- Iron supplements. I take the iron in the morning because it seems to sit heavy in my stomach so I'd rather take it early in the day. The iron seems to help me get back to sleep when I have to get up to use the bathroom.
- I noticed when I eat a lot of salt during the day I would wake up frequently during the night to urinate and then have trouble getting back to sleep. Now I avoid (most of the time) potato chips, pretzels, chinese take out food, etc.
- Exercise. I sleep better when I've taken a nice walk during the day.
- Don't keep a light up clock next to your bed. I have a small clock I keep in a drawer in my nightstand. That way I'm not constantly looking at it and upsetting myself watching the minutes tick by.
After about a year of monthly shots I noticed the B12 injections weren't affecting me as much and now I've been injecting every 3 weeks for several years I seem to sleep better the nights after my injections. I hope some of these suggestions help you.
