Just to thank you to all who gave me info on how and what to purchase so I could SI ( self inject). My goodies come this week, it was as easy as everyone said to order and not expensive . First time in a year where my B12 is due and I am not anxious and stressed out from the thought of having to run the gauntlet with the nurse ( god bless her) . Thank you guys I love you all xxx 😘

Definitely gives you more control.

Well done .

I also have them by a nurse IM at the surgery.

Sc at home.

I've been unable to book a surgery appointment .

Last IM one the end of June!

I even rang agsin last week incase of a cancellation.

Stupid system of unable to book the next one when there!

No joy.

No nurses . Or HCA.

Last one left.

I like to stay on the same regime.

An IM b12 4-6 weekly .

As finally agreed after yet another consult securing this.

I inject in between with prescribed b12 and bought.

So a forced trial of all sc b12 .

Thank goodness I can !!

Will be a 10 week 4 day gap since last IM b12 at the surgery.

What are others doing ??

I think nurses are concentrating in teams rolling out flu vaccines and soon another drive on covid vaccines.

A money driven priority.

As well as ethical preventable medicine.

G.p surgeries trying their best to reduce b12 Injections.

It infuriates me the degree it is demoted as not sn essential treatment.

As was proved in the covid lock down for many being put on b12 tablets!!

After the decision made by a gp injections are needed???

So good for you

I wish I understood why they want to block us on getting the injections. Re the covid my daughter volunteers for SJA and they are actively calling and re training all the volunteers to help with covid jabs so hopefully that should reduce the pressure on the surgeries . Sometimes it feels like scary times. Say safe x

It is ALWAYS “ scary times”; for P.A. patients , but especially now that surgeries are trying to cut down drastically on B12 injections . Read the letter that has been sent to all patients having B12 injections at Nackapan’s surgery ! Shocking ! All patients on B12 injections should submit to blood tests for B12 and also produce proof of P.A. by getting a positive IFAB test . This goes against guide-lines for treatment of P,A. It will result in illnesses to untreated P.A. patients….and therefore expense to the NHS . Why is this happening , when B12 injections are cheap, and take only 5 minutes of a nurse’s time ? …………….. Also patients could be taught to self inject by I.M. and also sub-cutaneous methods .

It really beggars belief .

Sorry about this rant .

What is the use of having to fight to retain an agreed regime if the nurses cannot be booked in to administer them ?What a waste of your valuable energy.

Exactly.

A G.p could do it ...happened twice before!

My neighbour just rang the doorbell. He has the news tge surgery ow doing face to face appointments !

He was at the desk and wanted to book in his father.

Policy... he was told he had to book it online or by phone.

He was in the surgery talking to a receptionist.

Has the world gone mad ????

He got out his mobile and once connected stood outside the door and booked the appointment.

Not all have mobile phones or indeed a computer!!!

However word cant be put ashe got oe for tonight !!!!

Perhaps the world's not gone completely mad, but certainly no-one seems able to choose common sense over protocol - and so the customer is always wrong !

I had the same problem with a hospital. My consultant wanted me to have a x-ray on the floor above his - but he discovered that was not possible as it had to be booked in, so I would need to return for that. Ridiculous, but okay .....

I had just left the consultant, who told me to book another appointment with him for six weeks' time . I got out my diary and stood at his reception area- where I was told that I would have to ring in, as the computer would not allow receptionists to make appointments for more than 4 weeks ahead ! I could not go back in and tell him, as although only feet away, he now had another patient.

A couple of weeks later, I decided to pop down one flight of stairs when I'd had my x-ray done, and try again to book an appointment. Now this was not possible because the consultant was not in that day to confirm that I required an appointment - and that he was not going to be there for the rest of the year !!

I don't have a mobile- so the receptionist's advice was to go home, ring the hospital's general reception area and get put through and make an appointment over the phone.

Do they not know how long that takes ? What a waste of all our time.

I had my diary, they had their's. I had been standing directly in front of them twice - yet could not make an appointment requested by the consultant. He was so close he would have been able to pop his head out of the door and told them himself .

>sigh<

Last time I was told "4 months" -receptionist told me that they would write.

It is now 4 months and no letter yet.

I'm not going to chase it.

Tired and lost a little faith that this route will bring any answer.

in reply to Nackapan

its got to make you laugh, when in the surgery and you have to book via telephone , same with Blood tests, Dr says you need blood test, so you have to hang up (Doctor wont put you through) and redial ??

Partner had same problem, No mobile phone , receptionist lent him hers , went into the waiting

And phoned her on her phone!! lol😂😂😂😂

Well done, Ozzy123 .Not an easy decision to self inject.

It becomes an easier decision if the 2-3 month wait for NHS injections means a gradual deterioration each time.

Stay stress-free !
