Eye floaters

Morning all. Looking to be a very warm day here - take care out there people.

Has anybody else noticed a reduction in their friendly neighbourhood eye floaters since treatment? I've just realised that mine have reduced.

I’m sure I read somewhere (ages ago) that when floaters ‘go’ it is just your brain adapting around them and ignoring them, so maybe when this happens after injections it means that the injections have improved something about the visual / perceptual / processing function of the brain - that was previously not working so well in your formerly B12-deficient brain???

That makes a lot of sense, thanks.

I use my eye floater as an indicator that it’s time for another B12 injection. It subsides when I am injecting frequently enough, & when it reappears, I know I’ve gone too long, and more symptoms, such as leg cramps, will follow.

Fantastic tip to watch out for. Thanks.

No, I haven't, but I am jealous of the rest of you! I've had a ton of floaters since I was about 5 years old. They're bothersome. I inject B12 daily and have been getting injections for almost 3 years now and have noticed no reduction in floaters. I'm flinging them out of the way as I type this; it's constant. 🙄

Oh bless. Maybe try setting an intention that your brain processes them so you don't notice them?

That sounds really horrible, I am so sorry.

I had a massive one appear about 7 years ago - it looked rather like a massive insect with huge legs so I had an awful week until it faded (as I really hate large insects).

On a different note, have you had your MMA/ homocysteine levels tested recently (or since you started on injections)?

Going on the hypothesis that there seems a lot of agreement amongst posters on this thread that (anecdotally) floaters respond to (disappear after) injections - it might be worth checking what your metabolite levels are doing, if it hasn’t been done since you were diagnosed. I am on 3-monthly injections, but my MMA is still elevated, unfortunately….

Hi Lynxis,

take a look at this website, it's a new study that my optician informed me about and it's bona fide:

profjohnnolan.com/new-study...

The preparation is now available in capsule form at:

vivaquity.ie/products/vitro...

and

butterflies-eyecare.co.uk/p...

The capsules, VitroCap N, need to be taken 1xdaily for six months. If there's no improvement after six months, it isn't going to work. I've ordered a six months' supply for me to try. I have enormous floaters in both eyes disturbing my vision, and my eyes are not appropriate for surgery (vitrectomy).

Results from the study were promising, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks so much! I hadn't heard of this. I'll check it out. Let me know if it works for you!

I had retina problems prior to diagnosis of B12 deficiency, because physicians don't seem to consider B12 deficiency when examining patient complaints, even when complaints clearly involve symptoms commonly associated with B12 deficiency.

I know this because once I was diagnosed, I used the Google Scholar search engine to look for possible correlation between my various medical problems and B12 deficiency, and found several areas of overlap. One of those areas was retinal problems. I did a quick search now of research databases via Google Scholar, searching the following terms:

B12 deficiency retina review

I skimmed several abstacts before deciding to share the following abstract, in case some people here might be interested:

I wonder is it possible that posterior vitreous detachment could be avoided if B12 was adequate?
