I started 1,000mg twice weekly injections six weeks ago. I had a resurge of all B12 deficiency symptoms in first 10 days and then they all subsided. However in last few days the burning throbbing sensations in my feet have returned ☹️ And this morning I woke with a headache.
Can anyone please let me know what this return of symptoms indicates? Could it be that other nerve groupings are being healed or is this wishful thinking
It's common for symptoms to initially improve following treatment before receding and settling back in for the long haul. Very few people will bounce back straight away from B12, but they may get an initial rush of improvements and an associated 'high' before things start to reappear. For most people, it's basically a waiting game.
So if you've had loading doses and you're doing ongoing injections it will basically be a wait of a few months to see them slowly fade away. And it is a slow fade.
Keep going with the injections and don't give up on them!
Many thanks. This makes lots of sense. And sure after decades of trying to find healthy solutions to my health issues, a few more months isn’t going to rock the boat.
Yes I asked my Dutch doctor about this (actually from a previous comment you made) and she told me to wait a few more months until my B12 levels have increased and then we’ll review the other factors. That supplementing with these vitamins at this stage could interfere with the B12 absorption. She’ll then send me a link to buy B vitamins in “active” form (whatever that is). Many thanks for all your help
Thanks for this. It’s SO much easier to endure pain & discomfort when I know it’s actually a healing process. I really like your comment about nerves waking up. It makes sense. Wow I shudder to think what damage could have happened had I not found my way to my Dutch hormone doctor!! I wasn’t even aware I had a B12 deficiency
