with the surge in cases in our area (I’m in the US), I want to be sure I know what to do in the event that I test positive. Do you recommend increasing injection frequency! I currently do every three days which keeps my PA symptoms at bay; however, I want to be sure I don’t get off track as I believe my case of this virus back in April 2020 is what triggered my B12 deficiency among other deficiencies.
Thanks

To be clear: Covid will not cause a B12 absorption problem. B12 absorption problems can take years or even decades to manifest because of the way serum B12 levels are regulated using stores in the liver and it takes time for these to run down. Sudden onset of B12 symptoms is more likely to be folate deficiency. There was some speculation early on during the pandemic that Covid might impact on the way the body processes B12 at the cell level but I don't know where that research got to. There does seem to be more evidence for it affecting the processing of vitamin D. However, as too much vitamin D can affect the way Calcium is processed in the body I would urge anyone to be cautious and take proper medical advice before deciding on supplementation beyond normal RDA levels.
I had Covid in April 2020. 13 months later I started experiencing neuropathy that has only been resolved with B12 injections every three days. My theory is that my B12 was already dwindling but COVId sped things up. It certainly caused some other things.
I just got covid last week and nerves felt worse so i did add in an extra shot (3 per day instead of 2). I also took vit C, zinc, D, and elderberry. I don't think the vitamins helped per se but psychologically it felt like i was doing something useful. It was like a bad cold and lasted about 7 days, so not too bad, but I think i must have had some immunity from getting it in january (sick for 3 weeks & felt like the flu) and a booster in february. Other people i know who hadn't gotten omicron yet have been fairly ill from it like i was in january, flu like.
From what i've been reading, your best bet is an N95 mask. I was masked the whole time i was out last week, but with a surgical mask, and i got very lazy with hand sanitizing.
We isolated very strictly at home - separate bathrooms, ate outside, n95s inside, lots of handwashing - and no one else in the house got it.
Loss of smell/taste was my first symptom interestingly enough.
good luck!
Edit - actually the vitamins may have helped a bit. I do remember getting a small burst of energy every time i took a combined vit c/zinc the ones you dissolve in water, 3 x day.
HAHAHA no, masks work, and they don't deprive people of oxygen. Covid on the other hand, will absolutely deprive you of oxygen - plenty of research now that covid damages blood vessels in addition to destroying your lungs.
