Wordy Unwise

My late dad asked our family doctor many years ago for

"Some of that Frolic Acid' for Grandma.

The doctor with great merriment in his eyes said: I think we would all use some of that!'

My favourite examples of howlers include someone asking for directions to 'Mr Mology's Department' which was easily resolved by directing them to Haematology. Another one from the same era was the delightful 'Professor Thrombin's Clinic' which was, of course, the Anticoagulant Clinic, also known as the 'Prothrombin Clinic' or 'Warfarin Clinic'. Happy days.

My time in the NHS wasn't wasted.
