Tired after hydroxocobalamin self injections

On Monday morning around 9am I gave myself an injection of hydroxocobalamin (not hydroxy) and also took some other health supplements and did weightlifting about half hour later

At around 1pm I became very tired physically and could not move, my mind was wide awake so could not sleep but I had no energy at all it was very weird

The day after I took everything I'd done the day before except the hydroxocobalamin and another supplement which I thought was the cause not the hydroxocobalamin and I was fine all day

Today iv taken the hydroxocobalamin injection again around 9am I did weightlifting and then at 1pm I just lost all motivation and energy and on both days got in to bed I was that bad, can't sleep because my head is wide awake but I lack motivation and have no energy. The lack of motivation is like a mental blockage sort of depression but the lack of energy is physical it's really bad. I am trying to not let it stop me from doing anything but it's hard and I feel breathless too

Depending g on how far you are in your treatment is the heeling I think that stops you in your strude as your body can't fo everything at once.I sometimes completely zone put after an injection of b12.

Losing hours.

I now treatcit as recharging.

I have never done weights so can't comment on the energy needed for that.

Just don't push your body too hard.

It is a rollercoaster.

Your muscles desperately need b12 and folate to repair themselves after any workout. So if you do have or had a deficiency, you'll have to give up the weight training until your body has recovered as much as it can. You can't get big muscles without plenty of b12 and folate stores.

Pace yourself and keep exercise light. Keep your heart pumping but dont put pressure on your nerves and muscles - they won't like it and you'll set yourself back from recovery.

Find an alternative routine where you can still do some exercises and regularly inject the b12 as a routine.

I haven't read your history, I'm afraid - have you been diagnosed with low B12? How low and how long for? Are you trying to get back to doing weights after a break from it?

Make sure you have plenty of folate, potassium, magnesium, iron and vitamin D - ideally from your diet. It's well worth getting these checked with a blood test. These are all needed at good levels for the B12 to work properly.

Obviously your levels of something are out of line but it's hard to think what in particular.

Breathless can be iron deficiency

Bleak can be a shortage of potassium

Mind in a fizz can be a shortage of magnesium

Insomnia is often vitamin D deficiency

None of it working right can be vitamin D and folate - but could be other B vitamins too, especially B1, Thiamine.

I expect the B12 is giving your body a chance to heal itself and that's why you are so tired - healing happens best when you are asleep - but you are short of other nutrients so instead of going to sleep your mind is telling you to go and find them and your body is feeling like lead! If you get the balance of things right I'm sure you'll feel better!

Hi Johnyleeuk,

Unfortunately, you are injured (lack of B12) at present so you’re weight training performance will suffer and so will your body after. It’s called postextertional malaise.

People can be as fit as fiddle, run so many miles in how ever long, do so many deadlifts at such a weight, jump however high but fitness is generally how quickly you recover from those events. Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness occurs in non PA/B12 deficienct people . For us, it can be crippling.

Now, if you are into fitness, then athleticism features strength, speed, stamina and flexibility. It maybe worth reducing the amount of time you do weights - less reps, less sets. Or using half the amount of weights.

Breathlessness is not a good sign

Or change your exercise, swimming, or isometric training (being able to hold a plank) for example as alternatives. It also focuses your mind.
